I have never bought a game that gives you so much for so little. With NF.

Hi Free.

If you enjoy racing then it's worth to invest on LFS. I used to buy 1-2 racing titles a year before I found LFS. Since that I have hardly looked at new titles.

Also it is difficult to find a better server to start racing than the dMr, because we have one combo (one car and one track) per week, so it gives you time to learn both the car and the track before the highlight of the week, the big 1H race. And the drivers behave reasonably well here, you don't get wrecked in every race, and we don't restart the race if there is a crash in the T1 (turn one).

Hi Free. Welcome to the 'club'. :)

I have to comment...

LFS is bit harder to learn that those 'arcade' driving games as it is much more simulator like those arcade games like NFS, rTractor etc. Wheel is good if you want to get the best feeling but not necessary to drive. I still use mouse (and I sure have to listen comments about it from wheel drivers  ). It might take little longer to get hang of it, but certainly you can control most of the cars (FWD and lower powered RWD cars certainly) with a mouse. Also I should point out that some of the default setups for the cars are not the best, so you could try experiment with the setup options or ask online people to give a set.

So are you still demo user? So you need sets for xfg, xrg and fbm cars. I haven't driven fbm yet so much because it is a new car. Optimally you should have a set for each car/track combo, but often a slow track set works for all slow tracks etc. I cannot send attachments here, so if you PM me your email address I can send you a zip.

The wheel sets do not work straight for mouse use (imho) and you need to do some changes. One thing I do first is reduce the brake force so that it doesn't lock the wheels so easily. Maybe I should write a short description how the different things in the setup affect the car. :g:

EDIT: Would there be any common interest to some kind of low level setup guide which does't go to technical details, but rather tell how the car handling changes if you do this and that? I think the LFS can be bit daunting for newbies who have no background knowledge on car setups.  Especially if you have a mouse the normal wheel sets do not work and many people might give up just because they cannot make car handle well.

Here's the Basic Setup Guide from LFS Manual:

There's an advanced one too.
