Can you please put all the skins in a zip file?
When I try to do a 'save as' on the dir it ends up as an html link rather than dir with everything in it. So I have to download each skin seperately, which to be frank is a pain in the proverbial.
It might be a feature of Firefox so if there is a work around that I can do instead then I'll do that, but I've checked the options and can't see anything obvious.
Pretty please with knobs on?
:D

Senior admin here, what seems to be the trouble? :g:
Do you download hi-res skins? If not an investment of £3 on LFS world and a change in Options/Misc 'dowload skins from 512 to 1024 saves all that messing about. If that isn't an option for you get back to me and I'll sort it.
£3 incidentally, gives you more skins that you can shake a stick at.

I think Sn00ks means if you zip up all the dMr skins for all the cars into one file we can download just one file and extract all the skins for all the cars into our skin folder at once rather than the one at a time download of each skin for each car for each player.

As for 3 quid for hi rez skins...pffft, 512 is good enough for me to get the effect as I don't look in great detail at other cars, but skinned cars do look good and add to the racing feeling.

Indeed. I just created it. It's big so it will be removed in a day or so.

I have noticed many people paint their skins in 2048x2048 resolution. They use that themselves and send it to team mates, friends etc. For lfsworld they have to make a downgraded 1024 version which they send.

That would be ok for me too, but I just don't like 1000 skins in the list where i'm supposted to find my own skins. (if I put them into skins folder I have to pick my skin from all of them).

I've been giving this some thought. Personally, I've emptied my 'Skins' folder of everything except MY skins and the default skins(the white ones) which lfs will object to  if they're not there!  You're right, to have everyone's else's  skins to sort through is...irritating.
So the alternatives are:
1. Only download your own skin from dMr and pay for hi-res skins (my preference)
2. Download everyone's skins and live with the clutter. Or,
3. Download your own skin and live with muddy 512s. )r,
4. Er...dunno.

I make my skins in 2048x2048 then resize them for everyone. LFS world won't accept 2048s, only 1024s which it then optimises.

Uploading 2048s isn't an option. I have enough copies of enough skins as it is, I'm not about to add to them!

I worked out a solution to this.

1) dowload the "all skins" RAR file and put it into a temporary folder (e.g. "lfs_skins_temp")
2) copy the 2 files there (1 exe and 1 BAT I made)
3) double click the BAT file and all jpg files in the folder are converted to DDS
4) cut and paste all DDS files into lfs/skins_x folder
5) copy only your JPG skin file(s) into lfs/skins folder
(6) empty the temp folder from all the JPG and DDS files, but the leave the exe and bat for the next time Doorman updates skins. )

Voila that's it. All team members have now 1024x1024 skins but only your skins are shown in your skin selection list. If Doorman next time gives one packet for all skins for a certain car it would be easy to do this only for that car.
