I like to play as spec ops - getting behind the enemy lines and taking out the artillary and command towers mainly but on servers where there is no-one using commander options etc I play sniper and cause havoc from a far..
I love flying the Heli's but would say im only average in combat situations but this is mainly because I can never get it one to practice.
I tend to use the static weapons more than most :)
The Spec Ops/Anti tank combo can be fun

Tank, attempting to blast choppers :dribble:
Before having a BF2break; flying choppers and jets.
Became a pretty good gunner in the chopper and in the jet I enjoyed both flying and gunning (after figuring out it's really easy).
I found a really good server but they shut it down.
On some maps I also enjoyed teaming up with another engineer in tank/APC's-combos.
On IO-servers/MH; Medic or Resupply to help the team out.
Also on some servers I enjoyed commanding.
how do i find dmw's BF2 server? been looking but no luck :crying:

You look in the main "Server details and Password" section for the IP and port.
Copy the details and use the "Connect IP" on the Internet Game screen of BF2.
After that it will usually be in your favourites section.
The only time I tended to get in a chopper was when Armitage was flying it. He's such a deft hand at flying that it made being a gunner real good fun.
Apart from that I pretty much always play a medic and enjoy playing a support role for my team. Occasionally I'll go off and play spec ops and rarer still a sniper but invariably I go back to be a medic

:withstupid: Arm was always a dab hand in the chopper, must remember which button the deploy parachute is.
I may get on tonight, but I have to install the game and patch it up. Then try and remember my EA username/password :g:.
I am a specialist at BF2. I am usually referred to as a "bullet stopper" :lmfao:

Suck up!!!!
Actually it's both you and Arm I remember really :narnar:
There was also another - Frenzy or DA maybe? kept flying through the pipes and holes in the Dam map.....
Anyway - I really suck at flying. Thanks for the lessons tonight. I'm going to try navigating with my mouse to see if that's easier.

Yup me and a guy called FreeLancer (last active on dMw October 2005) use to play at flying jets where they shouldn't be.
Kubra dam! After lots of playing and getting it right every time we started taking pics to show off, I still use this as a tactic during games to shake off tailing jets or AA.

This is me talking him in after I had just landed the chopper and first VTOL jet into the back of the aircraft carrier boat deck.
From this picture...........

I believe he failed, judging by the angle.
Its also one of the first appearances of OutOfSync on the deck.
Myself FreeLancer and Sync used to be on here doing stupid stuff at the end of a good nights gaming.
Sigh...... 2005..... Memories
Sometimes you just have to stab someone, or sometwo.. or somethree...

LOL I do the exact same thing... Spec Ops is generally the only class I ever play. I usually team up with Dewey who is generally a medic and we blow the crap out of anything and everything.
I created my own class, Assault Medic - which means I support as a normal medic but I'm usually found leading the charge and my kill rate is usually one of the highest *both for killing and being killed* :boxing:

I guess I could say Im a medic through and through, I have tried other units but they were not really to my taste. The rewards from keeping my "platoon" alive are pretty good (i.e. the points), although obviously its not about that, under constant heavy fire its bloody useful. :) Not only that but it allows me to use the SA80. :norty:
I remember watching the BF2 intro video for the first time and always wanting to try using the helicopters (mostly transport, are they black hawks in the game?), as tactically as possible. So for example; one guy flys and you have a sniper/gunner checking enemy positions. Or using it as support whilst you team captures a flag. But I guess you need alot of people to do this sort of thing properly. However thats probably whats really good about BF2 if you have like-minded folks (as we do), you can get the most out of each vehicles and kit.
I think I'll start giving the engineer kit a go, as especially on the dMw server with vehics, last Monday it would have been pretty useful. Could probably do with having a go at some t/w on particular vehicles.

Yeah know what you mean, personally I'm a Sniper like the well placed and hidden shots myself, dont like going in and spraying, nice 1 or maybe 2 shot kills :D, TBH its the only game where i can actually aim correctly (and BF2142 ofc)..
I wouldnt mind putting tactics into good use on the DMW servers i.e good sniper with a good medic and a good support guy to watch our 6's and give ammo:g:. Would make a great mid range squad, and would enable me to use the .50 cal from a chopper if possible (yeah i like to make impossible shots (one i really want to try is shooting a chopper out of the sky whilst in a chopper myself :woot2: million 2 one shot)) tbh getting fed up of getting kicked out of servers for taking heli's and planes out the sky its happened twice now :g:.
Hmm, so far, I like Medics, you get points for healing / Reviving. I like the upgraded guns they get as well, especially the third gun. (Medium sized Black one.)
I remember I was on the RIP server, and as a Sniper, I managed to get up behind a bunch of about 5 people, and successfully knifed them all, forgot to screenie it though. :(
Ah that will be the G36E, similar to Spec Ops G36C, though the G36C has a shorter barrel, single shot and full-auto, the E version is same except it has single shot and 3 shot burst. In real life the E version also has built in Scope.
My farourite weapon in the game too :)

How many million shots have you made to be kicked? Shouldnt you be killing infantry or something else useful?
Sniping helis when taking off or hovering is relatively easy. Sniping a chopper in flight is in the 100-1 bracket. Jets? Unless its a vtol asking for you to shoot em, dream on!
Me.
Commander, sniper, medic, engineer, support, spec ops probably in that order. APC, Tanks and chopper gunner.
Will play squad leader until bored.
Prefer infantry only - sniper - claymore and knife. Up close stuff, no hiding in the hills. Love the SVD automatic sniping! Trying to remember vehicles. Hate friendly kills on mines and clatmores - did I mention that?
Also love killing snipers perferably with the knife, will use rifle when required.
I did once flew with a guy who would just stop the plane in air and he got lots of kills that way.
Not sure how he did it though (hack probably). A sniper could have picked him off.
For the rest, taking out choppers with a tank can be fun.

Nope I have only done it 3 times, once was practicing with Lib managed to shoot him out of the sky in a jet
and twice in public servers (hence only being kicked from two servers) they where low flying in a canyon i was in the right spot at the right time....
infantry is really what the sniper is all about as it can cause panic an confusion in large groups as they all drop and run for cover..

As I remember me doing.
