looks awesome.. and I didn't have the faintest idea who the actor playing The Joker were, and got even more surprised when I checked on imdb

I checked the trailer like 3 times before I could see it was him, and his voice is still completely different from his usual (as far as I remember anyways)

From what I've seen of the trailer Heath Ledger is going to be an amazing joker... it will certainly be a memorable performance with it being released posthumously.

Clean up in ailse BrotherTobious!!!!

There is also a DVD of animated stories leading up to Dark Knight, called Gotham Knights.  Very much like what they did with the Matrix.

Much better than Begins? I loved that one, this is going to be good.

EDIT:
Just seen it, it is better than Batman Begins. The jokers role was played incredibly well. I loved the film you should all go see it right now.

Right i just got back from the cinema from seeing the film.

Firstly the film is brilliant. Camera angles are spot on so is the music (score). I can't really fault the film in all honestly apart from not being able to see it digitally or at an imax. If your near an imax i suggest you see it there first :D

The story is fast paced and flies quickly through with little pause for breath good graphics and special effects in all this is how films should be made, shame Indy wasn't the same :(

*SPOILER WARNING*

Well, I rate this 8/10.

Pros: People tend to create a hype around famous, early-dead peeps, but Heath is truly brilliant. He is better than Jack!

Cons: Storyline is dull and too vague and the last 30-40 mins could have been left out. The battle between the Joker and Batman becomes rather... headless. Good independent scenes, especially the prison scenes with Heath Ledger and the ones involving the batmobile and -bike, but the movie as a whole is a too long string of scenes. The last 30 minutes I sat there wanting the ending, and not the prisoner's dilemma from game theory done with ferries. Despite lots of quality action, the movie just went nowhere!

I might be a ranting, intellectual wanna-be, moviebuff *******, but presently, this is rated 9.3 on IMDb and ranks #1, meaning this is the best movie ever made (with 0.2 down to #2). That is way out of proportion, will be interesting to see how far it will drop over time...

*** Spolier warning at 'Some good moments' ***

OVERALL: 8/10

I agree with Delan.

All in all a good film to go and see, very entertaining.

Heath Ledger's 'Joker' was (excuse me french) effing awesome!  Heath really does MAKE this film.  Without Heath licking his lips, the facial expressions (despite covered in face paints!) and the small sounds he makes with his mouth the film would have just been average I'm afraid to say.

Some good moments

1) The disappearing pencil trick
2) Batman holding bad guy over a building edge, bad guy boldy states 'that drop wont kill me!' Batman drops him anyway and says I don't want to kill you (crunching bones etc oooer).
3) Joker dressed in nurses outfit fiddles with button of bomb detonator, blows hospital up and he does a little jump almost as though he's surprised!

LOVED IT!!

Heath made this movie. I think he should get an oscar nomination for his work. He walked all over Jack and I love Jack..

Pencil trick - was that good or what??!! " Look.. Look at it, it's gone.. " :D

Disagree on Delan's comment on the last 40 minutes. I thought that this showed a darker side to the series and also the development of twoface as a charactor. The ferry thing was really cool.

I give it a 9.

I agree.

Stayed up to watch it on the plane back from the States and found myself looking at the kids asleep beside me and wishing I'd done the same tbh.

It might not be a lot of fun, it's probably too long, but bloody hell it's an astounding vision of a film.  But in saying that I've never really had a desire to watch it a second time.

Maybe it would help if they just dubbed Christian Bale's ridiculous growl under the cowl and then I'd be happy.

Everything Chris Nolan touches is fantastic viewing - try Memento, Following, The Prestige, Insomnia.  All fantastic films in their own way.
