I read this http://www.lfsforum.net/showthread.php?t=34770 thread and decided to try it. I've got my LX4 skin now in the desktop background and I'm planning to order an A3 size copy of it from a print shop.

Not much my skills involved here, I just followed instructions and got these results in about 20 minutes. Thanks goes to Ron for making all these great skins.

If you, a dMr racer, want your "Doorman" skin rendered then you could ask for it, I might have time for a few more. But don't expect me to do much changes to the default settings, I've been just clicking the mouse buttons in Blender according to the tutorial.

I have done Aquilifer skin first, because Aquilifer has been waiting for my 3rd movie in vain (he did a great job making the manuscript for it). Doors does not need any reason to get his skin rendered.

EDIT: results would be better with 2048x2048 images. Deetz added.

As one who has tried and failed spectacularly to do renders, may I make a small suggestion? There's rather too much reflectivity. Can it be turned down a tad? Apart from that, good stuff! :thumbsup2:



P.S. We only get to see the rear of Deetz's car.....as per usual!

Well, I'm just using the default settings that were done by that guy who wrote the tutorial, I've got no idea atm how to change the lightning. Main purpose was to get a picture of my car to be printed on the wall next to my cockpit, and that's achieved now. If you would give me the original 2048x2048 image I might try harder though. :rolleyes:

Looks nice. Like Ron said, bit shiny but maybe they have been using just too much car wax :rolleyes:

Maybe I should have a try too. I used to make 3D renders some 10-15 years ago with 3DS4. :g:

EDIT: How an earth did you manage to put attachments here? You have some über rights? :blink:

Should render mine too.

Stoved in nose, warped pushrods, piddling oil and shedding gears...And front tyres with bubonic plague.

Nice renders mate, I tried and failed I think my skill is in the skinning.

Good work can't help thinking the LUTHA looks odd though....

I am sure if you have done this well a couple more tuts and you'll be ok with the lighting I reckon :)

I had thought rendering required a lot of skills and got excited after I found that tutorial. Seems like Ron had done it before and learned some real skills :doh:

Not to underestimate Ron's skill (after all he makes great team skins), but I've always thought that is made with LFS skin viewer (or what it was called) and photoshopping them together.

You're quite right, the only screenshots I've taken are either from ingame or, most often, the CMX viewer. Not the same as rendering by a long shot.
