:D Yet another great car/track combo.

Yes, this might be a good combo.

It is often said Westhill was made for the fast cars like GTRs and FO8. It is just that I have never enjoyed this track so much with those cars. I think the fast winged ('down force') cars can be bit dangerous in those fast corners. If you drive close behind another in those corners you can lose the downforce and just shoot straight out of corner. If you leave bit more room to the other driver you might not be able to get slipstream and overtake him at all in those relatively short straights. This is not really a problem with slower non winged cars and that's why I enjoy them more - you can drive the fast corners close to others and that is fun.

Other than that, this has been always one of my favourite tracks.

I didn't think LFS aerodynamic physics were that far advanced. I understand you can get a 'tow', but losing downforce by being too close? I don't think so...yet. :g: Mind you, I have been wrong before. Let me think.....ah yes, 1953. :lmfao:

Mmmm...last time I tryed FOX and when I drove too close after my friend I ploughed straight. He observed the same thing. It was WE1R and the worst corners were the two last corners. This ment it was almost impossible manage to overtake other in the start straight (similar sets).

This doesn't seem to hurt so much in other tracks where all the corners seem to be either too slow or not so much in limit of the grip in high speed. :g:

I might have been dreaming but...dunno....felt quite real to me.

i must agree with ya
on the old patch i was a bit of a fox junkie and you would lose your downforce if you got to close in a corner !

which normally meant an excursion onto the grass or into a wall !!

This was one of the best races I've ever had (though requirements for that are not that high yet).

I got to follow some of you closely and this time I did not try too difficult passes. At one point, after following BFG for a few laps, I thought to see what a bit more pressure will do to him. I came close just before the last turn, though I knew he was faster there, and left braking a bit late to pretend like I was trying to overtake him: he went wide and I could pass him. He regained the position when I was pitting, and soon I was chasing him again. It was great racing, he was as fast as me in those corners that lead to long straights, so that overtaking was very difficult.

The new combo is my dream, I hope to get what I have wanted for a long time now. I hope it to be a lot of close racing, lots of wheel to wheel fighting, defensive driving and all things where I am still quite a newbie. I have managed to drive some fast hotlaps when I get to drive alone, but it's not enough to give succes in 1h races. For this race I got my second Pole Position but this time either I could not take any benefit of it.

I get the impression you enjoyed that. :D Pleased with my 6th place which ought to have been a 5th had it not been for a bit of premature congratulation! So in the points for the second week running! Could this be a comeback? No? Oh OK.
Oh and joint highest climber. I think I'll put that in my trophy cabinet. :narnar:

Yesterday I got hold of Ben's setup, which I then worked a bit with to suit me. I went for harder tyres but reduced the pressure to get a decent working temp all round. It's very high downforce which costs you on the straight but very stable.

I put a softer compound all round for qual, a few 3 lap bursts yielded a few PBs and no real problems with the handling. I had a couple of trip ups with Vobler, each trying to get out of each other's way, which I felt guilty about but nothing intentional.

The race started well, no incidents or comings together. The tyres took a couple of laps to come in, and I was then worried that the insides of the rears were going to overheat, but I settled into a more conservative mode trying to avoid any sliding which got things back into line.
Aquilifer then had a bit of a moment leading out onto the back straight, collecting Vobler. I went through under yellows and backed right off down the straight to let them catch back up, as I didn't want to pass under a yellow. I then saw Dee and Stoney piling toward me so I had to nail it again.
Given the wing I carried, I held Dee off for a bit, then made a couple of slips and let him through, things looked quite good and I posted consistent lap times.
Time wore on, as did my fronts and I had a couple of battles to hold off romus, though as he was far faster, it wasn't easy and outbraked myself a couple of times. Deetz piled through and I was left with a paper thin coat of rubber on the front to fight Romus with again. Given the speed differential, it was only a matter of time and I settled back into nursing the car home.
A couple of biscuit moments, nothing too major. All told not a bad race, easy enough to drive and not the physical effort it might have been with a bit of a lump of a car.

At first I thought I don't bother posting anything, but....

I lost control because of a sneeze...yes stupid thing like that

Before that things were going well...better than I was expecting. I was thinking to get a good results. After the spin...some cursing for 10 seconds, then trying get of the grass...more cursing...thinking to reset the car...realising it would mean 2 min extra plus the already lost time...more cursing...anger...decided to call it a night.

The cursing continued after the race realising the next track is the boring "city oval" :frusty:

EDIT: Congrats for all finishing.

Bad day for me.  Got stuck in a traffic jam on the way to the track:g:

Is there a replay of the race guys?

Yes it's right HERE (http://lfs.deadmen.co.uk/skins/MPRs/WE1_1h.rar)
Bad luck with the traffic. Must come as a bit of a shock to be behind a queue of cars. :norty:
