Post by: OldBloke on February 08, 2008, 10:42:06 AM
New Steam Client BETA Available

QuoteStarting today, you're now able to participate in a new Steam client BETA. How do you opt into this? Simply go to your Steam settings and on the "Account" tab you should note an area that says "Beta Participation."

Click on "Change" and opt into the only one listed there. Why should you do this? Well, this update has the following fixes and changes included.
Fixed downloads becoming paused

  • Improved download speeds

  • Decreased application launch time

  • Fixed URL links in chats to not include trailing punctuation as part of the link

  • Changed group event notifications to open at most 8 dialogs

Mmmmm! The words "steam" and "beta" together in the same sentence gives me a good reason to run away!

Hmm, so if you lumped together "steam", "beta" with a bit of "vista" and "overclock", who'd be left sane?

Can't say I had a problem, last night was the first night in a long time I didn't have one lag spike, my FPS was through the roof and the game loaded in half the time it normally takes.

Seems to work OK. If anything, Steam loads a little quicker, apart from that I can't see any difference.

They need to sort TF2 server loading times, it takes ages. I'll steer clear of this beta for now. :norty:
