Well, here are some screenies from some maps I like the look of.
I really want to play Oil Platform with huge numbers, I reckon it will be brilliant.
The rest are just themed vehicle maps, but look fun.

great finds there LIb.
They should be good fun at the LAN
Nice Lib.
Personally I think the Oilrig, tank battle and boat battle would hold most appeal. Bearing in mind that quite a few people don't fly you could do heli battle with them as gunners. Not sure about pure plane one though.
That said they're all worth a try.
So what maps are we going to run for the BF comp?
PEN
Oil platforms is a nice map and does offer something for the non fliers. There are lots of boats and AA guns so lots to try.
Tanks are ok, but i think the boat one looks like something different.
Can we rack up a couple to try on Monday night or summat?
PEN
technical question.
Is it easy to swap between AAS and non AAS maps? but I think the answer is no!
that is an excellent idea - lets try before we commit to using them - personally I don't like the idea of just flying maps - ok for the likes of Lib, Magnus, Arm and dare I say it sulky but for the rest of us - its as much fun as pulling teeth.

Erm, it's easy if you have access to the machine!
AAS replaces the Vanilla "gpm_cq.py" file. To switch it back is a manual copy.
Running the AAS code with an unknown map results in the flags being uncapable.

Lib, Arm, You will shortly have a PM :)

Ta BB.
Now, should we make people D/L the mappack or make a dMw-BF2 pack. :D
Trouble with mappacks is that they tend to only have few good maps in them, so I'll see what I can bang together this weekend and how much space I still have left on my webpage. We should keep Monday night Vanilla AAS and test these candidates together on the off days.
Once we see what they are like we can decide on which to use for the LAN.
For the contest we need to have small maps that are fully capturable for a quick win. Tank Battle in infantry mode fits this so far, but is a bit flat and featureless, the boat one is a more interesting map but has UCB's. If anyone sees a good 3 (or 5 with UCB's) flag urban map then post it here.
I think urban warfare is always king.
An initial ticket count of 40-50 per side would speed things up.
Oil Platform is a definate candidate for a big game at the LAN as well as 64 Karkand, but lets see how it runs on the server ourselves and then possibly have a published and very hyped Monday night "
Rig Assault" night with screenshots.
The tourney maps can be small and don;t need to be too well known prior to the LAN, but the mass scrim maps need to have been used by our regulars to make it a known map.
The chopper and plane maps should only be up and running outside scheduled times, but their size and fun can be used to help teach people how we fly them as all they can do is get in a plane or chopper.
All looks good to me - Nice one fellas :thumbsup2:
It's a shame we can't just d/l maps on the fly can we?

Nope, its a "have it" or "don't have it" arrangement I'm afraid.
The maps go from 10mb to over 50mb.
Strangely enough I just mentioned to BB, the "Oil Platform" map is actually the smallest in physical disk size out of all 5.
Okay, the above maps are now on our server.
The original mappack is about 330mb and contains some broken and useless maps, so I've zipped up each one and dumped them onto various filesharing sites.

Not sure about the individual download limits on these sites, but we should be okay with our limited numbers*.
*Actually, the first site says .5gb a day. The second doesn't say there's a limit.
So.....assuming all good, we just need to get these onto a 'LAN' disc or DVD.
I'm beginning to think having a LAN DVD might be the way to go. 5 copies with all you need on should suffice to get everyone up to speed.
Cue me starting another thread with the DVD content on....comments welcome.
Added the disc content to the itinerary post. OB, need your comments on LFS please.
OKey dokey
We gonna do the CS maps on the fly then I guess rather than on disc? Should take too long for people to d/l I reckon?

LFS file is all that's needed. We will be running it in demo mode so nothing else required - server will be setup by me.
