This might border the fun/competitive line of dMw CS play, but do you reckon it might be a good idea to sort out a team for the ED cup now? Or at least asap? Not neccesarily made up only of dMw's best players - but certainly leaning heavily in that direction.
i'm only bringing this up now as i think it'd be good for dMw to be seen in a good light, (ie: as winners :) with the kind of focussed attention that the ED cup will bring, as opposed to the usual type of play regarding the ED ladder.
This way, as is usual with teams in tourny's in most other sports, they can start to practice together and get used to knowing where other team members are or should be, and how they behave in combat, getting more used to planned strategies, etc.
Clan members not picked to go in the team can play as opposition for practice for the chosen 6 (is it 6v6?) as a kind of B team - for wont of a better expression - and some members should be chosen as subs, should any A team members become unavailable due to illness, hangovers, phantom pregnancies or the like.
i don't know if you feel that this would go against the fun vs competitive principle of dMw (note: i'm not suggesting for a minute we do this for normal SL games - christ, i'd never get to play... :? ), but it would be shame with the combined talents of dMw members if we didn't do our clan justice in this tournament and give it our very best shot. Try and notch up a few successes that could actually in the long term do dMw a lot of good.
Now, even though my capacity as a lean mean killing machine is obviously without question (and if only i could apply that to all of the opposing team, instead of just limiting it to Stryker...) i'm not going to offer myself up as anything more than a last resort substitute. Until i get a decent vid card sorted out anyway, as lately i'm getting single figure frame rates when more than 8 people are playing, and whether it's for fun or not, it just wouldn't be fair on everyone else.
i was going to ask what everyone else thought, but it might be easier just to ask Oldie if he was about to suggest it, as that in my book that tells if it is a good idea or not... :D
Funny you should say that but I was just thinking ...
gud idea eggs.
single figure frame rates?
ffs what card u running.
2mb ?????
r u living in hte dark ages, even a standard card in a system will run cs satisfactorly.[hope that he ok spelloin]
How many pints sheepy??
pick the team oldie and lets do it!!!!
lmao sheepy....
Good suggestion Egg's, if we do it though, 'Team A' would need to get some serious plractice in before now and the Cup.

i dont even rember wrighting that post.

Good plan Egg master.... I dont mind beeing used as target practice for a training session..the trick is getting 12 or more players on ....
just getting up to speed with the working of the clan and wondered what the story was with team selection with the different events we do. OB has mentioned a rotation system. but I see here that for some events we may pick the best players. I think it is good idea for everybody who wants to gets to play in matches. not only because its fair but because PCS is so different to match play. unless you do it's always going to be an up hill struggle
is the UKCSL4 the most important comp we are in at the mo. if so should we have a practice Sunday early evening. I've been in enough matches to know, it's the better prepared team normally wins.
I smell teamstacking :D
Yup. I think that is a good idea Mr. TL. Do you know which maps are going to played? If you do we could work out strategies and try them on the server.

The Ed Cup was a special knock-out comp for those in the ED Leagues. We played in that knock-out comp (hence considering the need for a 'best' team) and got knocked out, we still play in the ED League and are starting this week in the UKCSL4U League. I have no idea which is considered more important.
As for practice - yes, I agree that it is a good idea, but Sunday early evening clashes with the ED game we usually play. Availability page and our clan detail page on ED will show you when normally play - Sunday & Wednesday evenings for Ed, and Mon evening for UKCSL4U.
Good tactics ideas should be submitted into the Tactics - Map Specific section of the Deadmen Talking Privately section of these forums. They will then gradually make their way over to //www.greenberry.co.uk for assimilation, but I should point out that we are at the beginning of the assimilation bit and we haven't stuffed much into the website yet

Eeeeh ... I wrote the wrong name. Sorry.
another dumb question
how do you know who is playing in each match?
That'll be in your welcome pack. You need to goto Oldies Match Availability site.
Team selection is announced in IRC about 5 mins before the start.
Which reminds me to remind you all ....
After the selected team leaves irc to enter the server I monitor it (the server) to make sure that everyone gets in OK.
Occasionally we have a techie problem whereby a substitute is needed to replace one of the selected team. So please could all non-selected members idle in irc for a few moments incase you are called upon.
