I watched a damn good documentary on TV the other day about people racing historic GT cars. Mustangs, Shelby Cobras etc. This set me off down memory lane remembering what good fun GT Legends was. So....I hoicked it off the shelf and reinstalled it. Applied the patch, downloaded Misano (one of my favourite tracks) and fired it up. Hey! THIS_IS_PRETTYâ,,¢! I was soon trundling around, reveling in the sound of my Alfa Romeo. :yahoo: I was even looking forward to hosting a GTL server as a diversion.
After a while I decided that the steering didn't feel quite right so set about tweaking it. A niggle started; just a little one, so on I went. As the afternoon wore on it began to dawn on me that there was something important missing. Feel. I felt completely detached from what I was seeing on the screen. At the expense of being branded an LFS fanboy(oap section) it made me realise how good LFS is. So I uninstalled it, searched for the tool which removes Starforce and vowed never to be tricked into buying another Simbin creation.
Shame, 'cos the real cars and tracks are certainly a pull.
Lesson? You can't go back. :)
Here Here!!
When I first invested in my wheel (shhh it is a wheel) I thought lets have a go on something other than LFS since I am new to car games.
I tried a simbin game called Race 2008 - Loaded it up looks sexah now the cars WOW ferrari's Porsche etc etc they all look amazing
Lets roll...............OMG it was terrible I felt like I was driving on a rail and breaking on ice
I didn't even give it the time doors did I uninstalled it and will never go back...
Heh, I am still alone here :) I love GTL :D
It's OK, we can all be different.
We'll just kick seven shades of simbin out of you in the LAN cark park. Or we can dress you up in Benny's purty lil frock and cable tie you to Sheepy's bed?

So LFS really isn't for you then? Oh well, can't win 'em all. :)

I'm really flattered by the offer but I can't take your place mate :bleh:

I enjoy LFS, I guess I like both :) I just don't have anything other than my laptop where I am living atm, let alone steering wheel etc
Me too,
But in a completely different way.

I had a blast the other day driving the Alfa on rain. The cars have working vipers an everything. Much better to drive than in GTL.
I am a big fan of gtr evo, and the swedish touring car add on, the graphics are superb and the ffb and gameplay i think are very good, not really played it online yet but will get round to it, the single player bots show very good Intelligence too.
good racer in my book:thumbsupsmileyanim:
pc world are currently selling it for £20
Looks good, what are the fizics like? Oh, first get GTR Evolution!

I'll nip and get it. :)
I should have not read this thread anymore.. I sold GTL and GTR some months ago in jumble sales. Cant go back to them anymore.. But I don't regret.

It's possible that it works with Race07, check that first.
You're bringing it all back to me. Does this mod use that dumb helmet view?

No, not even on the cobra without roof. The Mini and the Cortina was very good. Just had a few laps on the Nordschlife in the brown Capri in the rain. Slippery!
wow what a great mod, driving the mark 1 escort and the capri, superb stuff, its made me like the game even more:yahoo:

Cheers, I have to try that :D
I know nothing about realism or how racing physics really work.
But I've been playing Simbin games for some time now and while I can't comment on a lot of criticism it gets in above areas, a lot of people say they feeld etached from the road while racing, as if they're on rail tracks or floating above the road.
When I'm playing GTR2, Race or GTL I'm always blasted away by how many feedback I get from my steering wheel, making me experience exactly what I see the car doing, allowing me to immedeately correct and adapt.
It's actually exactly this I'm missing when playing LFS.
Anyway, not trying to open a cesspit here because I know it's a high debated subject. but I'm glad people here play it too. Do they still, though, or has it died somewhat?
Edit and off-topic: my first post on these forums, so hi everyone. I'm using a signature and avatar I use at other places too, so if they exceed any boundaries, please let me know; I couldn't find any rules about them.
Welcome Jorri, nice that your first post is in the racing section. :D Sim racing is a thorny subject and one man's realism is another man's arcade. You'll have to come and pay us a visit on dMr and we can see if you're as handy with a car as you are with an AK47! :)

Hello and welcome to the brotherhood.
There are some guidelines for signature sizes HERE (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=210747&postcount=1). Yours does fall outside the guidelines but major kudos to you for actually thinking about it :thumbsup2:.
I've a feeling your going to fit right in :)

PS. Feel free to stop by and say hi HERE (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=48) for a more formal welcome.

Aren't my welcomes formal enough?
Oh Ron I'm sorry I didn't mean that lol.
I mean that lots of people who don't race wouldn't read this whereas many more would in the hello thread.

I think you need to read my book: How to disguise humour. By Rudolph Hucker. :D
Oh alright then, I'll resize my sig, but I'm only gonnna put more guns in it :narnar:.
Thanks for the welcome, I'll be sure to say hello to a wider audience. As I've understood, it's quite big..
Most racing I do is offline, usually going head to head with a friend, so I don't think I'll be joining your online rankings just yet. Currently playing Colin McRae 2005.
So I'll just go creeping to the CSS board now. Cheers.
