Title: FZ5s at Kyoto National reversed
Post by: Romus on March 06, 2008, 08:56:31 AM
This is a combo that I at first did not like to drive. After putting so much effort on the previous combo I hated the feeling of having to start learning from the beginning again. When I heard that this is a favourite car of Jürgen I could not believe it. The car felt too heavy and tires without grip. But now it's better and I'm eagerly waiting for the big race.

About server lag. The server starts lagging when we get 10+ players I think. Could Ron have like 10 guests limitation on the server, so that no one drops out in the middle of the race? I don't think it is enough to have the server private tonight, since we still might get more than 10 racers.

Mmmm...it's just that we might have more than 10 dMr drivers alone. :g:

L56, I think his name was Jürgen.

IMO there needs to be a compromise, lost connections are worse than no connections at all I think.

We're no longer on Doorman's server. We're now on our main gaming server. We hope to be back on our normal server late next week.

The server we are on at the moment is not mine. MeatHook is dMw's other box. So the lag is not my fault! :narnar:

Jürgen is not actually dMr as he's one of these 'non joiner' type people but yes, he did say, many moons ago, the the FZ5 was his favourite car. I couldn't believe it either!

To my mind, one of the things that is good about our format is that we don't get bogged down with just one combo. The learning and relearning process makes it interesting and fresh every time. The satisfaction of keeping a car on the road that previously only wanted to graze  on the grass is enormous.  In the case of the FZ5, keeping the tyres at a reasonable temperature is the big challenge. So gird up your loins me hearties, for tonight we conquer Kyotooooooooo! :woot2::woot2::woot2:

Anyone got a spare freezer for the offside front?

I think if you don't turn the wheel, the tyre won't heat up that much.

Or stop the wheels from turning too quickly (brake lock):)

An exercise in tyre management. Note to self: Retake the course or ask for refund.
A good race. :)

Couldnt agree more. Very enjoyable and full of 'if onlys'
If only I hadnt been tapped onT2 lap1, If only I'd turned right instead of left on lap 18 etc etc

Great racing with Oldie & Mille.

There was a collective groan when you discoed. This happens too often to you. I'd send someone round to your ISP to sort them out! Start with shillelaghs and work their way up until they see it from your point of view! :norty:

You had a puncture? Gotta watch it!

I myself was a bit worried about the tyres, but they lasted, though I'd have kicked them asses if they hadn't been, as I was babysitting them, driving on tiptoe. Except on the last laps, I couldn't restrain myself from getting a new pb. :D

Good driving chaps, especially Romus, who kept up with me at the start.
