[RANT ON] My internet connection is really playing up again. Currently waiting for someone from BT to phone back. The 2 hours I've already spent on the phone with them tonight (about 4 hours in total since the problem started last week) hasn't been enough. Have I mentioned how much I hate Indian call centers. Oh and BT... I went with them because I thought that with my line being with them, it would make issues easier to deal with, no buck passing.... well BT Broadband pass it to BT phone line who say it must be Broadband as line tests OK but BT Broadband insist it must be the line and to phone BT Line people back ,to finally, after telling me I'll be charged a fortune if it isn't their problem, sending out an engineer. The engineer swapped me onto a different line from the pole outside my house to the exchange and it seemed to be working fine. Until I got home from work tonight.. oh and the stupid person (ok it was a women but I don't want to appear sexist) had me phoning the BT IT Home department (I had asked for Broadband Engineering), they couldn't understand why she asked me to phone them. I've tried two routers plugged into the main socket, two different filters, different PC's and they still don't get the fact it's their problem!!! oh and the stupid person also had remote conrtol of my PC and deleted my password cache on Internet Explorer, even though I specifically asked her not to!! :ranting2:[/RANT OFF]

So it doesn't look like I'll be on tonight.

Had some issue's not long ago with very intermittent line connection, turned out to be mice in the garage nibbling on the cable, replaced cable and all was well

The other time was the power supply for the router went (bit of a humming noise coming from it led me to believe that was the cause) on closer inspection, it was 'leaking' it was giving a 'dirty' phone connection (static sound) and the Internet connection was pot luck.

Good Luck mate !

Ahhh that's crap Whitey   I do not envy you at all!  I see from other threads in the past here that peoples experience of BT had not always been good!

What sort of problems you getting by the way Whitey?  Perhaps there is something wrong your end we could help with?

Don't you start!!! :flirty:

I'm basically getting download speeds of less than 10KBps.  My IP profile on the exchange is 100kbs, it's normally around 4Mbps.  Upload speeds are fine at around 50KBps.  After all the testing I've done, I'm happy the problem is with BT and not my equipment.

Why did someone from BT have remote access to your PC?

Because she wouldn't escalate any further unless I let her, :ranting2:
even after telling her the problem was the same from the other PC's in the house.  My connection is getting better and allows me to play CS again but it's still not as fast as it was before all this started.
