Title: Broken into this morning
Post by: Snokio on March 16, 2008, 09:31:51 AM
Got a call earlier this morning from the neighbors saying my back window has been smashed in on my van, went out to have a look and they stole 2 pressure washers

one of them is a beast of a thing, petrol, but was out of commission (ha!) worth around 200 or so quid, the other was an electric karcher, which is worth about the same

Went around the village looking out for anyone struggling with them, as the petrol one, although on wheels, the 'stoppers' are very low, and would be difficult to move, but didn't see anyone about apart from loads of paperboys, I so wanted to catch them :ranting2: god knows what i would of done if i did!

Looks like this expensive month is getting even more expensive  :sideways:

Taken to the cleaners eh mate?

:getmecoat:

Seriously though ... bad luck. Some years ago my car was broken into three times in one year and I was so infuriated and felt so helpless. What can you do? I considered sleeping in the car with a baseball bat :D

Look on the bright side, your insurance will get you a nice new pressure washer. I got broken into while out climbing once, and got a whole pile of shiny new climbing stuff to replace the grubby old stuff, and the car was written off so I got a chunk of money towards a new one. I was gutted when I first came across it, and if I caught them I'd still be after revenge but it wasn't all that bad.

As for the best thing to do if you found them. I'd personally just follow them, find where they live and smash the windows in every few weeks. (Different nights of the week at different times etc) Untill you think they've been suitable inconvenienced, or till they move out...then you'd have to find their forwarding address...which wouldn't be too hard, and the process starts again. (I'd use an air pistol to draw minimum attention.

Sorry to hear that. Do you reckon they knew they were in your van, could they see them through the window/s? Never had anything substantial stolen fortunately.

Unlucky m8.
I know I'd want severe retribution if I was you.

T-Bag, very often work tools are not included on the vans insurance. I know mine aren't.
Sometimes the total replacement value of the tools in my van exceeds the value of the van:blink:

Cheers guys,

Blunts right, its all coming out of my pocket  Including the big rear window (third party fire and theft rather than fully comp)

Forensics will arrive tomorrow! Hope they find something!

(on a side note, If i knew where they lived, not only would i smash their windows, I would hang around outside and wait for them to come out so i can kick the :ranting2: out of them)

quick update, forensics found nothing

They showed us the technique they used to get in, which would of been silent, and the noise heard around 8am was more than likely the wind blowing against the damaged glass which then smashed on the ground :ranting2:

I so want to rig the back end of the van with tear gas or tasers or somink, something tells me I have not heard the last of it!  :eyebrow:

Along with the elephant? :narnar:

I doubt they'd come back Snokio, especially if they realise that the police are on their trail. I'd try not to get too worked up about it, hard to do though obviously in the situation, just hope that they get caught. :sideways:

Criminals are fairly stupid generally though. Rig a car with explosives and leave it unlocked in a rough area of Manchester, London etc. You won't get the b4$&rds that broke into your van but being a vigalante would be fun.

Instead of explosives fill the car with carbon monoxide...and then spray them with acid. They'll be too sleepy to run away. Mwhahahaha!
