Talking to some SOG members recently it became apparent that there is a definite wish for more heroic instance runs than are currently going on.
My take is that people view the heroics as super-difficult and with no real rewards, but in my opinion they are missing the point and also remembering what heroics were like prior to the availability of Karazhan epic and the PVP epic gear which almost all toons now have.
Whilst there may be only a few drops of interest in the Heroic instance runs (other than some recipes, gems or the odd trinket or low-droprate item), the real reason you should be running heroics EVERY DAY is to collect badges. The daily heroic quest in Lower City typically yields 5-6 badges each day, add 22 from Karazhan each reset and you can easily collect 57-60 badges in a week.
Surely that's a lot of time each week?
Not really - the Karazhan run excepted, the heroics are generally pretty quick and in a group that knows the tactics some can be completed in 30-45 minutes.
Why bother though?
Gear upgrades is the main answer - and when I say upgrades I mean HUGE upgrades because the gear is equivalent more or less to Tier 6 items but with slightly less of one stat than the actualy Tier 6 loot. Either way, it is a massive upgrade over Karazhan loot and it immediately boosts your defence, stamins, dps and healing to a level where you can successfully visit and battle those previously inaccessible raid instances, or battle on a more level playing field with other well-geared players. Examples of the loot are below:
So Tell me About the Loot Upgrades!

Can I Upgrade my Gems too?
Yes.

So What Now?
If you have not already started, then start stockpiling badges ready to buy your item upgrades when the 2.4 patch goes live. Start attending the Karazhan runs (maybe get that second group going to give everyone the maximum chance to collect badges) and make sure you go at least the DAILY HEROIC QUEST instance every day. When you get a larger block of time available, then slot in some more heroics - even the PUGs these days are pretty competent at clearing heroic instances with realtive ease.
So don't be left behind when the 2.4 patch hits - go farm some badges, run some heroic instances and have fun in them as your gear upgrades are just around the corner.........

tnx for the boost TL :D
and yeah, i'm allways looking for a 5man heroic :D
so if other also want one, just give me a bump online :D
Just to give an example: my elemental shaman turned 70 on Sunday night and did its first 5 heroics with a non-guild PUG and just 412 spell damage. They all turned out just fine.
