Title: Magtheridon & Mount Hyjal
Post by: TeaLeaf on March 28, 2008, 07:51:32 AM
Ok, wierd suggestion, but I am going to put forward the idea that we hold a Magtheridon raid and a Mount Hyjal raid.

Magtheridon - this got nerfed in 2.4 and is now I suspect doable by SOG.  We should try it - he drops T4 chest, a nice bag and other goodies.

Mount Hyjal - this one is more a bit of fun, but attunement is no longer required and you can get some insanely good trash drops even if you never kill a boss.  It might be worth blowing half a night on attempting Rage Winterchill for fun and something different to do.

I'm happy to help on either raid, so long as it is not on one of my raid nights, so it might need to be a 'special' one-off raid.

Thoughts?

I think thats a good idea as well, and its a good suggestion for the guild to make them feel for some progress :)

If you're going to do this then may I suggest giving yourself enough notice to make it achievable?  Announcing it is great, but then having to cancel as people had too little notice might be worse than not doing anything at all.

Magtheridon
You need 5 tanks - 1 very nicely geared for the boss (about 2 mins into the fight), 2 well geared and the last 2 can be DPS cats or DPS warriors as needs must.
You need 3 warlocks on your first attempt (they have halved the number of infernals that spawn so 3 should be just fine), then load up on DPS and healers - I'd suggest 8 healers should be sufficient on your first go, but if we struggle we could always up it to 9.

Hyjal - Rage Winterchill
You would need 7 good healers or 8 if one is not so well geared.
You need 4 tanks (one MT and 3 competent tanks who can OT during trash waves and then do decent dps during boss section).
All need a PVP trinket (2 min CD one recommended)
You need one good melee dps group (enh shaman, rogues, dps warrior)
Stack the rest of the raid with ranged dps and particularly AOE (locks & mages)

Now you now what you need to gather together as a raid group.

If you go to SSC as suggested by FatBob then you need diff things - Hydross needs minimum 2 tanks with max resistance tanking sets which is about 10k total cost so mos tpeople start with Lurker.  Lurker is a simpler set up:
- one good prot tank
- 8 healers
- the best dps you can bring including no less than 2 mages
