ok quick update, the xbox controller is a no go ........

looks like a trip into town tomoz to get a Joystick,

basically bf2 doesnt recognise the buttons correctly i.e no paddles for thrust etc and its crap basically very sensitive (even when turned way down) and it is hard to judge what your doing (even though i have no clue anyway this just makes it harder)

I use mouse for chopper and a Saitek ST-90 for the plane.

ST-90 is not really good enough for normal flight sims because of the digital throttle, but it works well in BF2.

Is it honestly worth using joysticks? I thought mouse with high sensitivity when in planes was quite decent... at least for me? I don't crash, but rarely take ppl down in dogfights either :g:

I've used the plane quit a bit in BF2 that only people with joysticks could beat me in dogfights (or other really good mouse-users). People with joysticks can make much better/sharper turns and also evasive manouvers go much faster.
The last few times I played BF2 and started using the planes I was thinking of buying a joystick just for that.
