Over @ Jumpgat Evolution they're having a limerickcompetition for a beta key; http://community.netdevil.com/showthread.php?p=28866#post28866
2 of mine are posted there allready.
Project release is winter 2008 so I'm wondering when they're finalising the for the Beta (guessing it's about now or so as of the competition).
Wish they'd make this as a standalone game, not an MMO.
The PC is crying out for a decent Elite/Frontier update.

I've started the 14 day free trial yesterday.
Although getting lost in space slightly it seems to be pretty allright.
Worth a look to try the 14 day trial first.
I won a Betakey :yahoo:
I'm still on the 14 daytrial a.t.m. and it's pretty allright and it should give insight on how to play the new game aswell a bit.
Grats mate! that is cool :D

http://www.jumpgateevolution.com/beta_signup.php
signed up again last night after our cool shootout training :D
Played the original Jumpgate quite some time ago, a bit like multiplayer elite I suppose, enjoyable enough but didn't have enough depth to keep my attention.
Definitely signing up for this beta though. ;)
wow! would like this game :)

This 1 should be more interesting.
BTW, when I start playing I'll join the Octs.
I recieved an email this week;
QuoteGreetings,
Happy 2009! A new year full of excitement, blood, sweat and tears lie in wait as Jumpgate Evolution drives forwards at full throttle and straight into overdrive.
Before we dip into the year ahead though, let’s take a look back. 2008 was an exciting year for Jumpgate Evolution; in March the game was showcased in it’s first playable state for the public at Connect 2008, the Codemasters Online gaming event held in the UK and was very well received by those who played it. Since then we have been hard at work building the game’s content, including more thriving sectors, player vs. player mechanics, capital ships, manufacturing and trade systems, ships, equipment and the less exciting, but vital account and support systems. And it doesn’t end there...
2009 promises to be a great year for Jumpgate Evolution, and we have big plans. The most recent addition to the game over Christmas is the implementation of Octavius space and a greater variety of enemy ships. Our next goal is to bring in the much-desired Quantar space and higher level content â€" and it’s looking fantastic. Look out for upcoming juicy asset releases which will showcase these Nations. All of this work moves us a step closer to an extensive Beta test period now that we have the systems, we have the Nations and we have the content
(http://www.codemasters.com/emails/jumpgate/270109/images/master_template-new-slices_21_uk.jpg)Next up is “moving the eight hundred pound gorillaâ€, a.k.a. Beta! Until now we’ve been testing internally, with both employees, close friends and occasional outside testers. Although it’s helped us immensely in gathering feedback and testing functionality, it’s no substitute for the pounding that you guys can give it with your vast numbers and persistent exploration. So many of you have been waiting patiently, eager and itching to test the game and feedback your thoughts to make the playing experience the best it can be. We’re almost there.
After that, once the game is shined and polished and once we finish gargling coffee and taking on Mountain Dew intravenously for the final crunch period, we’ll arrive at the launch window and a fully-fledged marketing campaign will kick in, but that’s information for another time.
We’re all excited to see Jumpgate Evolution grow from
an idea into a colossal beast of a game and all of us here can’t wait for you, the player, to get your hands on it.

Been following for a while now and have signed up for the beta, sent my new DxDiag. Which might help my case :)
Interesting aswell the next text bit, think we might start up a dMf or something and make sure we are in different fractions.
I still have a Betakey that I won so looking forward to when it gets released.
FEATURE MANUFACTURING
Manufacturing will play a big part in Jumpgate Evolution. Scattered around the universe are factories, which allow players to craft weapons, ships, modifications and items to enhance and progress your or someone else’s character by manufacturing raw materials and salvage together. These factories offer different items for manufacture depending on which one you visit and they’re located within different threat levels of space. So if you want to create a prestigious item only found at a factory that’s currently inside a combat hot spot, you’ll have to take that risk in order to receive the reward.
Reputation and allegiance with sub-factions also plays a large part in manufacturing. In order to manufacture an item you need to align yourself with certain organisations that grant permission to access their catalogue of items. Those can then be made in stations or in sub-faction specific factories.
We’re also planning to have a large collection of items and ships which are “manufacture†only. This means players will need to trade and create amongst themselves to get the best possible items â€" not everything will be available from NPC vendors.
There's a new vid out; LINK (http://eu.jumpgateevolution.com/news_article.php?id=9108)
Beta will be released; June 2009
Vid of the gaming being played and a guy discussing what you can do. The blurb is good as well, I like the fact it will be joystick compatible as well :)
This game looks great and I cant wait to see if it is going to be.

Which I have to say I am little dont want to say worried but interested to see.
Signed up for both betas. Fingers crossed :)
I just read it was being devloped by 10 people. So it's going to be a long painfull road.
Where you get that from interesting. Appaerantly the beta is out June and realease seems to be a faily stable July.
I hope it does really looking forward to this.
Beta is in June correct.
They've been busy with the Alpha allready quit a bit and are on it for quit some time now.
The Beta should have been out last year but they posponed it as it wasn't ready in their eyes.
New Vid showing off some more aspects with the Producer of it.

Me too :D
Have you been able to download the client yet?
I get a message saying my IP address isn't allowed. :g:
EDIT: Doesn't open for download until tomorrow.
No email here yet, might need to check with the JGE-forums...

Yup, downloaded ok. All installed and it's now getting the main client. Looks like the initial installer is just a stub and the rest is downloaded when you run the game for the first time.
Have fun guys!!!
Send a PM to one of the people on their forums about my key.
As Toby said, have fun and let us know. :flirty:
PS, start a dMw in there or dMf (deadMenFlying) or such...

I feel a naming competition is required.
dMf = Dead Men Floating
Or
dMf= Dead Men Flotilla?
dMj= Dead Men Jumping
dMw = Dead Men Walking :D
dMw = dead men warping
It been delayed boo hisss down with this sort of thing. :ranting2::ranting2::ranting2::sad::sad:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/jumpgate-evolution-gets-delayed
I think it's a good thing. I would rather play a well tested complete game than something with loads of bugs. :)
I do still hope the send out my Betakey sometime soon though...
