I started out in Sweden at 7 PM on Thursday evening. I drove to Copenhagen to pick up two of Delans friends who Delan had convinced to join us on this road trip. They were going for a London weekend and the prize they had to pay was to endure 15+18 hours in a car with me and Delan. Still we managed to convince them to pay us for it! :roflmao:
The drive took us through Denmark, Germany, Holland, Belgium, France and finally England. The drive there was surprisingly quick and easy. Me and Delan chatted through the night and we had a laugh! Burger King!!!!
We were lucky though to not have an accident. I had my car in for changing the tires from winter tires to summer tires just a week before. Driving on the autobahn we started hearing sounds from the front right tire and we stopped at a petrol station and realized that the nuts weren't tightened on ANY of the wheels!!! After tightening them we had no more sounds from the tire and the trip went smoothly.
When we were getting close to March we had a bit of difficulty choosing which route to take. Following the GPS or a google map printout? Well we did neither and saw the English country side for about 45 minutes. Cows and sheep were cheering us on towards March ... but we got there before lunch on Friday anyway.
The Lan have been described by many already and I will keep it short and simple. It was great and I enjoyed myself immensely. Thanks for a great time guys. I hope me and Delan will do this again. He is a great travel companion and has a great sick sense of humor.
The travel back was fine until we came 30 km north of Hamburg. The fog that hit us there was unbelievable and you would need at least two Nvidia 9800GTX in SLI to get decent frame rates. The fog lasted for 250 km (!) and was thicker than whipped cream. When I finally came home the time was 06.00 in the morning. Went straight to bed and slept for 5 hours.
18 hours drive in total for me.
Was is worth it? Hell yes. :yahoo:
I don't think many Swedish cars have been seen in March.
They must have been like; look at them car there. Look at the stearingwheel!
Me, King and da_Ricci have been thinking of a roadtrip aswell to the LAN. Who knows, maybe next time.
Lucky on the car part btw.

This could have been the worst LAN ever, Gods of Gaming where looking out for you guys that day.
Excellent write-up Doc. Yeah with plenty of caffeine, movie quotes/impersonations to guess and sick humour you can keep it going for quite a long time :D
Heh, those wheels. I mean, they were not just a wee bit lose. Seeing you swirling that bolt tightener can still make me laugh... with a stint of panic and nervousness in my voice :lmfao:"I can really feel the bumpiness in the steering wheel now..." *donk-donk-donk-donk* "..hmm, could it be the tire?"
Great fun, I am up for another Burger King hunt in total darkness in the countryside any time, oops, Lan I mean, but only if I get to toss liquorice after the sea gulls the next time.
Thank god the bolts held on that long!!
It was really good to meet you guys and be part of Doc's bitches!!
@ Delan sorry for constantly confusing you with my manc accent and northern slang!!

Took me ages (2.5 hours - see other thread) to drive over there and loosen the nuts on all his wheels. He still bloody made it.

Next time loosen the nuts on his Deagle will ya?
Always check your nuts on a regular basis, and the ones on your car frequently too.

Lucky escape, though. I'm sure Del would have blamed the handling on the LFS engine, as SimBim wouldn't feel that way.
I agree with . Its sounds way too good to be true & it doesnt make enough sense for me to even try to believe it, but hey, who knows, right?
