1. The Helping Hand Award
This year we have not one but two worthy winners.
Firstly, although not present, The admins decided that it was time that this person was publically recognised for the tireless work that he puts into running the Community behind the scenes. One needs only to see the time difference between a problem being reported and it's resolution to see how quickly and efficiently problems are dealt with - often so quick that the majority of the membership do not notice any outage.
A big vote of thanks was therefore offered - in absentia - for the work that BlueBall puts in on a daily basis.
We are all indebted to BB for his ongoing work and offer him both our congratulations and our thanks. :worship::clap::worship::clap:
For the LAN Helping Hand, this year's winner was BigFatCat who set up and installed the UPS substructure for the switches and helped facilitate the integration of the network etc - and all that other stuff that I don't understand. Well done you and thanks!
2. Other Thanks to:
OldBloke for installing and configuring the new LAN server - doubly so as having thought he's finished we then went and dumped BF2 and BF2CC for him to install at the 11th hour.
Also, the individual games admins who maintained and ran the officially supported games. These include:
Whitey
Dr Sadako
Armitage
Liberator
Sulky
OldBloke
and Benny, I guess, for Soldat - although that's debatable as it was such a steaming load of kack :narnar: (although he marginally redeemed himself helping with the Deagle comp)
Thanks also to Ghosty for taking me and (a drunken) Sheepy to go and buy the LAN prizes.
Sheepy, as usual in his own inimitable style, did a great job getting people in line and ready for the competitions.
Those who helped collect the LAN subs and to everyone else who chipped in and helped either set up, clear up and those who helped others sort out their PC woes.
Finally I'd like to thank Amy for making the whole weekend bearable.
Cheers
PEN
Well said Pen :).
We need Blueball to come to a lan to properly say a big thank you. The amount of time he has dedicated to the clan through the years is impeccable .
Thanks for a great Lan, so when will we be invading Lionheart's and Fatbob's home turf again :D.
Saturday was a great day of comps. Big thumbs up to the gaming comity.
What can I say about soldat........:g:

PEN
I totally agree :D
I see that there is one major name missing from there
Huge thanks go to
:yahoo:Penfold:yahoo:Without you the rest of us wouldn't have had a chance at doing anything right at all.

That I rocked at it!
Soldat? Moaning gits. I set up a server, then Oldie did and it all worked fine (well, It worked well at the proper end of the room, good work on the network for splitting the north and south end), I even changed it to Rambomatch when requested by the players. A bit like when Armitage over-ruled the majority and chose BF2 maps with flip flops only. Pah, chopper haters.
Pen, thankyou for being so posh, it entertains me every time as does the fact that it annoys you when I say it.
Smite for providing drink tracking services and identifying where my whisky had gone, and also inventing a game, I reckon it's a winner, just need someone good at modding - Sadako, Whitey.
In fact I love everyone. Especially my inherited CS team who used the old adage that saw us so well in the ladder, if in doubt - cheat, and damn we did well.
Gee thanks guys. Please get Amy to deliver my prize :)
Hear hear. :)
Good job everyone involved in making the LAN so good, especially PEN for his organisation and back rubbing skills.
Congratulations to BB, well deserved! :yahoo:
Many thanks to Pen for all the now not so unsung, but still hugely under appreciated hidden stuff. And the Oyster card. And the whisky. I love you for it.
Thanks to those running stuff for the benefit of others, including the BF2 team who had the server up and down nicely, then a few times more. I love you all too.
In fact, thanks to everyone, without all you horrors rolling up it wouldn't be the same. Nice to see new faces and names. Group hug, lovers.
Thank you to Blueball, in LAN absentia, for all the techomonkey stuff that you and your admin faeries do. I'd like to say that I accept the Hand of Benny trophy on your behalf, as what I did was minimal and still bitched like a Swedish doctor about it. Love you long time, 10 dollar.
Thank you to my Mrs, as when I got home I found all my desk environment decimated, sorry, "tidied" and a big pile of cables left on my seat "as I didn't know what they do, so I piled them up." I took my spare PC to minimise disruption and yet I still get back to a late 40s Hiroshima. Love you.

It's all I have of the illusive Amy(http://www.webfire.org.uk/images/Amy.jpg)

I can see some nervous ear fiddling going on there. She was err very nice in all aspects, including the one provided by Smilodon :D thanks!

And you said that *I* was bad - sheesh at least I didn't go round taking shots of her butt :lmfao:
That said, it's been nice having the membership being able to fixate on someone other than Bridget :roflmao:

Great people, great LAN, great curry, great beer!
shame that the twins wernt working at the hotel this time.
A damn good lan very enjoyable.
Agreed, thanks guys, looking forward to the next one :)
It's all been said, so I'll just just echo that.
Thanks Guys. :)
Shame we kept getting dragged back into that strange room full of computers. But other than that the beer festival was a triumph. Well done to everyone concerned :D

You mean you didn't see them?!
They were there, just ask BFC :flirty:

Oh god they were there alright! :D:D:D:D droool :narnar:
Yep they were indeed serving Saturday breakfast. Although I was so hung over they may actually have been just one jailbait waitress looking in a mirror? Hard to tell.....
:norty:
I didn't know they were twins at first. I nearly made the mistake of asking the 'other' twin where the milk was I asked for but I just realised in time :|

Just wanted to say thanks to Benninio for taking pity on me and letting me play my one and only game of bf2 at the lan - my pc was fubared.
Also for offering some respite from the never ending drone from the ladeez at the other end of the room - my ears have only just stopped bleeding :D
