Read about this on a gadgetsite. Smart design. Especially for of the road vehicles

I didn't post it as I didn't knew if it would be interesting enough...

haha :roflmao: cool idea, but is there enough preasure to lift the car without killing the engine due to preasure in the exhaust?

I was thinking the same thing. And if you have to sit in the car to push the throttle it seems quite stupid.

If it does work however, you can a) use it on any terrain and b) dont have to worry about that spot in the car frame to place the jack.

Thats strange, if you block your exaust you'll stall the engine, and it will put off the fuel economy of the engine, I'm not really sure how they've managed to get the pressure to lift a car without these negatives...a series of valves intricately linked with duct tape perhaps?
(also if you're a little depressed and you're away from you're gas oven or your sealed garage theres now a solution)

It could be said that the exhaust isn't blocked, the gases are still being vented.  Likely with pressure valves etc being involved.

Don't think I'd trust it though!

I had a little read:

QuoteThere’s even a one-way valve to prevent air loss if you decide to turn off your vehicle.
But still I think there will be preasure that will make it hard for the engine.
And it's a tad pricy(for my taste) to buy, just for testing it out.

err, yeah looks like that guy on ebay selling cable ties as document binders to me :g:,

i can see some exhausts being seperated from the manifold and a lot of auto boxes being smashed with this as overback pressure would damage an auto..

We used low-pressure air bags in the Fire service. They were inflated using compressed air from a Breathing apparatus cylinder through a regulator at 2 Bars. However the pressure within the bag is 0.5 Bar.
They were considerably larger than the one shown, being about 1m across and the same high.
I can't remember exactly all the facts and figures, but each bag would lift in excess of 5 tonnes. The bags were used in 2's for stability.

Even under load the tube could be disconnected from the regulator and the outflow of air could easily be stopped by the palm of the hand over the end of the tube.

So maybe the back pressure is not enough to overcome the exhaust (and there is a non-return valve on this tube)

Edit:just found this pdf (http://www.shropshirefire.gov.uk/webimages/brigadeorders/technical/pdf-76.pdf) which looks very similar to the ones I used (and my figures weren't far out)
