So just messing around with the World Wide Telescope when I came upon these. Now slap me with a wet kipper and call me Gungadin but they look remarkably like engineered objects.

Looks like the supports for the mirror of a relector telescope to me. (I could be wrong)
A Reflector telescope doesn't have chromatic aberration but it does suffer from light distorting around the supports which hold the mirror.
This is the reason why stars (which are spherical) look like they have points in photographs. I guess the telescope they got that region of sky from doesn't have any better pictures than that.
