this is one of my favorite cars in lfs to drive,
very challenging but once you get it hooked up it can be really rewarding:)
:ranting2:typical that i'll be missing thursday again :crying:
good luck to all :)
FO8 is a bit too fast for me, I don't seem to find good rhythm with it. Could be also due to the setup. Let's see how it goes tonight.
Here the stats:
A game of two halves for me. First 30 mins I was really happy (and totally surprised) to be in third place with the front two still in sight although slowly pulling away. I pitted after 35 mins and found myself in 4th behind Deetzy with (strangely) my lap times down by over a second. I reckon I had a dodgy set of new tyres (which would have made sense had they been replaced.) With 15 mins to go I realised that Dee was reeling me in and, to be fair, he would have grabbed 4th if there'd been another lap before I finally crossed the line.
Loved the combo. Sunday was excellent fun. A great weeks racing for me.
"Disaster" struck again for me.
Slider46 hit me in lap two so I spun out. I was patiently waiting for everybody to pass before I entered the track again. Only to see another car coming in my mirrors. I panicked and that resulted in a real "noob" move spinning in front of Nick, leaving him nowhere to go. I am very sorry about that.
After he had pulled away I entered the track again just to find that the car pulled to one side and I spun again. I quickly decided to pit and fix the damages. But when I stopped in the pits my crew was sitting there watching the monitors and wondering what I was doing there. Nothing got fixed so I just pulled out again with a bad car.
Anyway I managed to do decent laps and slowly going up the ladder. I had a great race doing that. And securing a point in the end was great. Sorry Ron!
Qualification was looking like a lottery, but lucked into clear space on each and ended up 2/3 down the grid, not getting all the speed I could over the lap. Being there, I expected to be involved in some carnage off the line.
Took a notch out of the power on the diff to help prevent spinning and reduce the load on the rear R2s over the race.
Made a few places up on the start and picked up 1 or 2 more on the first lap to make it into 6th, a gain of 5 in one lap. Running reasonably comfortable there for 4 laps, keeping an eye on Seany behind and the ever-noisy DeeS in front, then took a nibble on a Bourbon which dropped me 2 places when I spun at the top of the pit hill before the chicane. Boogle and Lameduck were closing and dropping back so I tried to keep in touch up front until I ate the rest of the Bourbon, twatted the wall and bent the right front suspension, meaning the wheel wasn't on the floor much and cooled to blue all over: Made turning left a little unpleasant.
Couldn't keep the pace up and left a few people through under blues and made to fight through a few backmarkers until I pitted and tried to keep clean and consistent as the front grip was going away. Chased down Crazy bit by bit until I had a couple of lunges and finally slid under him and away 10 from home, even though I had probably over-revved the engine and lost some grunt.
Reading these reports is almost as great fun as the racing itself. I was surprised and felt a bit uneasy to find myself in the pole position. This time I could keep my nerves and the start went well. Actually I've not had bad starts for quite a long time, so maybe I have learned.
I drove as fast as I could from the start, though avoiding risks. I was glad to see Oldie following me and Willi so close and I was expecting Willi to try overtaking me early in the race. He probably trusted to his racecraft and let me keep the front position. He patiently waited and got a chance to attack on lap 20.
Right after that I could regain the first place for a short time. When we approached the chicane Doorman was in front of us, so I planned an overtaking maneuver which worked great. I saw Willi was too close to Doorman so I took the chicane entry a bit slower leaving a gap between me and Willi and took maximum exit speed. On the following straight I would have easily overtaken Willi had he not blocked my path. However I made a daring move putting my left side tires on the grass and maintained my speed. We were driving side by side and the next corner would have been his, but Doorman was on his side of the track. I could overtake them both before the next corner. This was the most enjoyable overtaking I've ever had. Have to check that from the replay.
But Willi was faster so he could soon get back to his place. He however spun soon after that, so I was in the front again. About half the race left and him losing a few seconds, about 10 I imagined, I said to myself that he cannot win if I do not make any mistakes. When he however did some low 1:04´s and even an 1:03 I knew my only hope was in the tactical play. I went to the pits as soon as I saw his speed hoping that he would need to fight trying to overtake me. But when I came out of the pits he was already ahead of me, about two seconds.
Very good race by Willi, strong performance in second half of the race.
I need an extra button on the wheel for Ventrilo. Now I have to reach for a button on the shifter and I just can't do that in the heat of the race. There are many times I do not reply to you because of that. I've made a mistake a few times when reaching that button so I've decided it's better to not say anything and concentrate on racing.
And here entereth L. Head held down in shame....trying to make excuses for his mazely 10 minutes of his - what should have been a - race...
I deliberately qualify at the back becuase I'm have afastacargorafobia (being scared amidst large groups of fast cars) and then trying to make up for it during the first few laps. I expected this race to be a repeat of the previous races to have a battle up and around Oldbloke and BigFatCat. Oldbloke however turned alien and qualified somewhere in the top 5....and BFC was nowhere to be seen either. Anyhoo: I started my race, second to last, just before RocketRon....
At the start I think I overtook Doorman and oOOOOooOOo00OOO000oooo (Ben for insiders) and all was well, until Slider46 took out Vobler, I had to lift off and immidiately Doorman overtook me (overtaking under yellow! Boooo! :boxing:) and RocketRon was not far behind. I put in persuit and soon found I was faster than Doorman at most corners, but as the saying goes....it's no use being fast if you're stupid.
I pulled up along Doorman in lap 4 or 5 (excuse me for my poor memory but I'd rather forget this race anyway) to find the door rightfully kept shut and instead of backing off I pushed too far with me ending up in the barriers, nearly missing one car and hitting RocketRon (sorry 'bout that)
I had to limb a whole lap back to the pits for repairs. By this time I was lapped and so I rushed out of the pits, confident the race was not over. Well, something was over! That being my speed over the speed limit in the pits. So I had to do a drive through which went just dandy. :ranting2:
To make an already long boring story a little longer: I spun again, having to wait people go by (I was already 2 laps down) and then I spun again and saw -what looked to me- 120 yellow triangles coming my way. The safest thing was to sit tight and let all of them pass at which point my hearth sank and I couldn't motivate myself any longer seeing I was also over 45 seconds behind my next opponent. I already felt like a accident waiting to happen over and over again, so it was best to pull out.
And what is worse than feeling like a miserable git? Being a miserable git and see others have fun so I just had to run out before anyone saw me cry! God I hope no one saw me crying! :crying:
Sorry about that. Better luck next time.
Hi fellow racers, having lots of problems with my pc at the moment, thought i had solved the problem and was looking forward to racing last night but my system BSOD, should be back soon i hope (i am sure your missing my first bend over shoot on lap 1)!!!
Congrats Willi :yahoo:
Bad luck L, I felt your pain as I passed you for the fourth or fifth time. I was only a few seconds off the pace but by lap 25 I was getting in the way so I parked up in the pits and watched the race for a bit then went surfing. To be honest, I couldn't be arsed.
It seems I featured quite heavily in that race one way or another! :flirty: The incident with L made me feel guilty for being so slow. That lasted for about half a nanosecond before the grin spread over my chops. :norty: My biggest impression was of blue flags being waved in my face about 3 laps from the start! The worse one was on the last lap when I was successfully fending off a spirited attack by Slider46 and I suddenly got a bluey. This confused me sufficiently (not hard I know) to slow just a tad and let him by and nick a place. Big mistake putting R4s on the front and R3s on the back, mistakenly thinking that they would get better as you lot drove on deteriorating tyres. Well done Willi, good win. And for someone who thought the car was 'doo faaast', well done Romus
This was a very hard race but still rewarding.Had abit of a battle with Detezs until he did a lovely move into T1 and headed off into the distance:)Following that battle Sean was hunting me down for our normal thursday night meeting until he sadly fell off(unlucky mate)
Following my pit stop i couldn't get back in the grove and The Cat was slowley catching until he made his move and pounced:rolleyes:
congrats to willi and all who finished
sounds like a fun race:D
anyone got the replay ?

Oops! I'll put one up right away.
:thumb: cheers ron
Well I enjoyed the race more than I thought I would, it was one of those combo's where the time just seemed to fly bye.
I was late arriving for qualifying and managed a reasonable but not brilliant time for (I think) 6th place on the grid.
I picked up one place on the first lap, then had a good few laps chasing and finally passing CrazyR1 leaving me in 4th a good bit behind OldBloke.
Due to starting on R2's I had to be very careful not to overheat the tyres, also the car balance was just a bit 'off' on the heavy fuel load, so I was only just about able to hold the gap to OldBloke.
As we came up to the half way stage the tyres had worn enough for the temps to drop down into their optimum range, and the car balance was getting better and better, allowing me to push harder and the gap to OldBloke started to slowly close.
After the pit stops (where I was briefly ahead of Willi, his pace in this part of the race was unbelievable, and I ducked into the pits a little early to remove the ignominy of being passed. :no2: ) I was shocked but pleasantly surprised to find myself comfortably clear of OldBloke in 3rd place. :D
The last third of the race was just keeping a good consistent pace until the finish.
So another good win for Willi. Some more excellent pace from Romus, he is getting far too quick. :ranting2:
Well done to all who finished.
Well, my first 3 mentions on Dmr and they were all bad,
Sorry Vobler for trashing your race dude. The reason i latched on to you lot is for the sense of fair play and sensible'ish driving so i do try to uphold that. Sorry again matey.
I did wonder why you went so wide Doorman but you know it was coming anyway, lol.
I did enjoy this one after 3 other races of being the mobile chicane and being lapped by everyone. This one was fun.
Cheers all.
Slider.

Neeh, don't worry about it. We all make mistakes. Just see what I did to Nick only seconds after.
Was a quite an enjoyable race, despite the miss haps. really loved the combo that week, F08 is a blast. Was shaping up for a nice battle with Andy, but I pushed too hard and spun it after the back straight. Then a while later my clutch pedal reset its self, fixed that. then battled back through the pack till the end. when I get a reliable controller Ill be dangerous :lmfao:
Congrats to Podium takers and participants.
Good to see you high up the grid Oldie, you had some serious pace this combo :thumb: congrats
