Title: Barebone
Post by: Dr Sadako on July 16, 2003, 08:20:41 PM
Crap? Great?

I was thinking of buying one to use as LAN/gaming comp only.

Saw that some mobos come with two network cards. Could be useful at a LAN. One for leeching and one for gaming! :D

All advice is appreciated.

Stay away from closed warm rooms with sick people.... ya-know, hospitals.

On a serious note, you need to grill smite over this as thats what he did.  I believe he was very happy with his shuttle pc.

Cheers.

I was thinking of getting the Shuttle SN-45G (AMD).

if u want a shuttle they generally come as a barebones system.

at least u can b assured that all the bits will work together when u get it, much easier to set up imo. although it isnt much hassle putting everthink together anyway. if its the spec u want and at a price u can afford then go get it

Got one its ok but tbh i dont use it....it just sits there gathering dust.
Seems to be very noisy since i put a GF3 Ti500 in it so for that reason im not using it for what i initially bought it for ie:- Downloading films and watching them on the TV.

Very easy to set-up nice and compact and if you dont put a Gphx card in it and use on board...very quiet.

:?

So, is it very noisy or acceptable noisy?

I was thinking of putting my GF3 Ti500 in it ... or an ATI further down the road.

:?

I was thinking of using it for LAN as it is easy to take along. At a LAN it will be ok I guess as there is much noise already but at home  8O  ... doesn't seem like a good idea.

Hmmm ... what to do?

512MB PC3200
Seagate 120GB, 8MB cache.

This machine is so sweet. Quiet and whizzing fast. I am very happy with it so far.  :P
