As you are probably all aware, the support for BF2 as a game within the dMw Community has been declining for a long time and, despite a small rallying of numbers recently following the threat to withdraw the server, there has been no sign of it taking off again. The Community Leaders and the Head Admins have been discussing the issue and have decided to start up a CoD4 server as there seems to be a lot of interest within the community for this game.

Prior to making any announcement to the community we need to complete some essential tasks and this is where we need your help. We have a server up and running and we now need to test it for game play, adjust any settings to suit our playing style and get people comfortable with admining the server. We hope that those of you that already own the game will join us on the server during this week to contribute to the design of the settings and general game play on the server.

The server details can be found in this thread (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=23840) along with some basic information for CoD4 beginners.

We are pleased to say that Armitage has agreed to be the Section Admin for this game; lets all give him our support.

I would ask you all please not to mention or discuss this outside of the admin area until an announcement has been made to the whole community.

I will try to show up (if my head aches are ok). I haven't played CoD4 online yet. I have completed the single player though.

Same boat as Mats, completed SP, not tried anything online yet. Will try and get on tonight.

I still need to buy the game but will do so forthwith.

I hope the Community as a whole embrace it and it becomes a popular replacement for BF

The idea is that those of us that have played it a lot will help everyone else. You will be glad to know that our server is RANKED so you dont have to go anywhere else :)

I Managed to get in on the server, but keep getting kicked by PunkBuster :ranting2:



I have installed pb setup v3.0, and selected the game, checked for updates which it did fine, but keep getting that message, and then saying it failed to initialise PB client any ideas?

Do it manually. I did that and it worked.

I tried that too :(

the message is 'Punk buster reports PB server running old version C2.065'

and when i get kicked it says 'PB client not responding' :crying:

Edit: after saving this : PB ClientA v1402 for Win32 Filename: wa001402.htm the messages have stopped

I'll check the server doesn't need updated but I did it 1 day ago so it should be up to date.

Edit: Server needs updating - for petes sake I did it a day ago! :doh:

Hmmm that is strange. I have played on a few different servers today, all running PB. But I got kicked from our server. If I understand it correctly the PB on the server side is old and that is why we are getting kicked.
