PS sorry I kicked you earlier but I needed server offline for patching and you were ignoring my console messages so you got the golden welly :narnar:
Problem! When I start the game with my spiffy desktop shortcut to the server, I am treated to a black screen that won't allow any interaction whatsoever! Hard reboot is called for. :sad:
Game starts ok from the normal shortcut and connects to the server ok.
This wasn't a one off it was a twice off. :eyebrow:

ditto, exact same thing here :sad: but i cant get it too join the server at all, it now only shows the IP under the server name, where as before it was -=[dMw]=-MH (or similar)

I got that a few times. If you CtrlAltDel and start task manager you can kill the game that way. I discovered I was getting an error message hidden that was telling me the a file was corrupt (iw_13.iwd to be exact).
I replaced it with a good copy from the server.
if anyone else gets this let me know and I'll stick the iwd file up on my website for download.
Well, a somewhat different issue here... When I connect to the server i get a error message of some sorts (Its in a different window unreachable when cod4 is displayed above, and gone when you close cod4...). Im unable to connect to the server at all.

I think there is a prob with fileplant version of file (filefront one seems to work)
The error Oth is seeing is same as I was seeing.
Uploading file now, it will be there in 10 mins or so. I'll post URL shortly once upload finishes.

The three finger exercise has no effect (that was the FIRST thing I did :rolleyes:) Unfortunately I could see no error message although it was there but ungetatable. :) How big is iw_13.iwd? Mine is 27,973kb

OK it gets more interesting - my file was fine as was all of yours; it is the server files that were corrupt. I am replacing it now and everything should be cool then :)
I'll post here when file replaced :) (3.5 min left of ftp time then a few seconds to copy to server and we should be good to go)
