Title: Points questions
Post by: ChimpBoy on July 03, 2008, 09:41:37 PM
If I quit a game mid-flow, do I still get the points for which I've accrued, or do I have to wait for the end of the match for these to be awarded to my profile?

How much played time did you level 55 folks have to put in to hit top level (I realise it could vary wildly by individual - just wanted a rough guesstimate)?

You accumulate points continuously. You do not need to wait until the end of the match. I have played for 10 days now and are at lvl 47. It is rather quick in the beginning if you do the challenges.

One of the challenges is to blow up 15 card. So every time you see a car lob a nade at it and turn it into a carbomb. You get 250 points when you blow up your 15th - its that easy sometimes :)

Yep, if you want to do the fast ranking as I did (within 2 weeks and not every day of play ---> lvl 55) and follow the challenges you'll receive loads of points.
Also; stick to 1 gun in the beginning, good for unlocks but also points.

I assume this sort of thing doesn't happen on the dMw server?

Well people will use cars as car bombs. If a grendae explodes underneath a car the explosive effect is amplified - there is an easy way of getting rouns it though; dont hide behind cars :)

And no it doesnt happen very often but it is part of the game.

They can be fun. I even managed to blow myself up once when I was destroying all the cars on a map (was checking the map by myself).

And killing someone by blowing them up with a car does have a nice image and it will happen on the server...

Good question Chimp :)

Out of interest, is there a list of challenges you completed (or not)? I don't recall seeing any menu options for it.

Yes there is.
You can check them in the multiplayer as an option.
BB or such will probably tell you exactly where.

Start up Multiplayer then clcik on "Rank & Challenges". They are listed by weapon type and by experience/difficulty level.

Some of them I know I will never get because I am not "l33t" enough :)

Same here. There's a few of them that are nearly impossible.
Some just requir luck.

A double headshot with a sniperrifle took me a bit but suddenly I had 3 in a round...After the next round it happend 2 times more, then I got banned for being a "hacker".
This happend on the map "Crash" in the long alleyway where there's a really good gitspot which can cover the whole alleyway.

Anyone know if you get points by playing the single players scenarios or is it only when playing multiplayer online?

Thanks

Only multiplayer. In singleplayer you can get "intel" points by picking up enemy laptops placed on the different levels. Press your "use" button to grab them.

Singleplayer is a good way to learn the different weapons and buttons.

As Mats said for the rest...

I think a really good way if you just want to level up some of the weapons (red dot sight, silencer, etc) is to go on a public free-for-all server.  Yes they are total carnage, but within a game or two you'll have unlocked the basics and can start working on the fancier upgrades.

This means you'll be less worried about frags when you play with dMw and can truly enjoy the tactical bits :)
