Title: Pre-booking For Our International Friends
Post by: Penfold on July 08, 2008, 05:35:21 PM
PRE-BOOKING FOR OUR INTERNATIONAL FRIENDS....

For those of you coming to LAN XIV from overseas - please book your flights for this LAN as soon as you like and can you also please PM me/post here to confirm your interest and I'll add you to the list accordingly.

To remind you, the dates are
31st October - 2nd November 2008.

Please note that this time we do not have to vacate the room by 11am on Sunday so please bear that in mind when booking return flight times.

As per the last LAN, (apart from int'l visitors) the booking thread will open in a month or so for Charlie members to sign up, then to Bravo members and then to the Community as a whole.

Note for International Travellers:
As we usually have some people attending from overseas I thought the following might help:

The LAN accommodation costs are above, it's cheaper if you agree to share a twin bed (two single beds) room with someone of course.

The LAN venue we charge at £15 per person for the whole weekend.
Other costs: Food and drink - this depends on you. Personally I eat my meals (Fri lunch through to Sunday lunch) in the hotel's fine restaurant, I have a bottle of wine with each meal and my food and drink bill usually comes to about £160 for the weekend. Others buy sandwiches, get burgers etc, stick to beer not wine etc and and their bill runs to maybe £50-60 for the weekend depending on what and how much they eat & drink.

Travel: Any London airport works well, Stanstead & Luton are closest.
Heathrow is ok, Gatwick is further but still doable. If you book your flight tickets we'll make sure someone picks you up and takes you back - post on the forums for a lift and you are usually sorted out very quickly as other attending members appreciate the international effort made! Other airports are also a possibility - if in doubt post and we'll see if anyone would be travelling past your airport!

Computer - if you have a shuttle or laptop then you're probably sorted (unless hand luggage rules cause you problems) but if you cannot bring your own PC then post in the LAN section to see if someone is willing to lend you a spare PC for the weekend. Many people have done this in the past and it seems to work well!

I am interested as well. I am in no way interested in the LAN, I just want to drive with Mats again, out of pure curiosity as to what we can lose this time. The engine?:g:

Definatly in!
Will check EasyJet or who knows catch a ride with Mats and Delan if possible.

Lumi, I allways bunk up with DarkAngel but there's loads of people who will share. Don't worry, as it's your first time, you'll get Benny.

Top list amended to reflect comments.

Please confirm up when you know for sure - Lumi and Delan, does interested mean you're coming or not? ... no rush just let me know when you can.

As for sharing a room - I'm sure you'll find a roomie. I don't think anyone has failed to do so as far as I can remember.

Thanks

Not a lot of sea between Scotland and March mate, unless you're coming a loooooooong way round.

But hang in there and check back in a week or so - the booking thread will be opened then.

Be good to see ya again.
