Title: Server
Post by: Penfold on July 14, 2008, 07:47:38 PM
Has anyone actuially ever found the server when looking at the online server list.

I know I have a shortcut straight to the server but sometimes it'd be useful to have it as a favourite listed.

It doesn't look as though you can add it manually either?

Yeah found it.
Do remember to set the right search tasks.
It came out in the top 15 of searches.

or as posted in another thread:

make sure your browser filter settings are set to show empty servers (in case) and servers with passwords. IIRC it doesnt show either of those by default but I could be wrong.

Thanks chaps.

HLSW is fine but sometimes you want to join a server, leave it to check challenges, create a class or whatnot and rejoin.

You can join from HLSW.

You do not need to join a server to create a class. Just start CoD4 using the multiplayer icon and select create a class :)

Whats happened to the fish hook? Its all..... wrong? I last tried to join about 5 minutes ago, but it just keeps trying to load some weird map over and over, untill I re-start my PC (not the good way either) I could see 3 people in the server. This is very pants as I have never had any real problems with CoD4. going to check my profile is still in one piece. :crying:

I'm still having the same issue, it keeps redownloading mp_dust2_cl

I dont think it's a client setting, as I was able to download and play one of the maps (mp_treasure I think). I had issues with dust2 and vukovar.  (but if there is anything I can try let me know.)

Since I was having issues downloading from the server, I thought I'd grab the maps from a different source. But even then, it attempts to download of the server and goes back into the loop. the file sizes from the other source we're identical in size.

I've copied the .iwd files for the two maps mentioned into the mod directory as well as the usermaps area to see if that helps.  Can you try again and post back here.

Odd goings on on Fishhook. Joined and downloaded Vukovar no problem. When it came to Nuke it downloaded the .ff file ok and the load.ff but the .iwd file it kept on downloading it but only 503KB! It tried about a dozen times before the server got bored with me and threw me out. I deleted the whole MP Nuke folder and started again...same. Is there a map pack somewhere?

I think it's to do with the server / map settings, some maps are picky where they want certain files (.iwd), i think this one does not want it in one of the folders, but everyone had the same problem I'm afraid, I think that map needs to be removed

I'll copy the iwd file for the map to the mods folder as well.  That fixed the other problem maps we had.
