Title: Force Chasecam
Post by: Benny on August 18, 2008, 02:03:01 PM
Having moaned like Ron at a spelling convention to get chase cam turned off...I've changed my mind.

With a respawning type map (Dom, HQ) it gives an unfair advantage. I noticed the other night that having been defending a captured HQ, from some distance, not having shot anyone, so no kill cam giveaways, I was killed by someone who I can only assume had used the free cam whilst dead to pick me out. I've also done it.

Can we switch it off for the respawning maps?

Also, add some repeat map entries for the sabotage maps, maybe 3 repeats, with the proviso you retain the team you were on.....

Its not often that I agree with Benny :narnar: but both of his ideas have merit.

Killing the kill-cam on respawning maps would balance things out a bit - I'm sure we've all wondered where snokio was hiding with his .50 cal sniper rifle so we could get some revenge...

Instead of repeating the map, is there a best of 3(?) setting, because the sabotage maps can be over very quickly.... If there isn't then repeat the maps :)

/Edit:  You can set the round limit using set scr_sab_roundlimit 3 - this would set the limit to best of 3 rounds and you can force players to stay on the same team (i think) using set scr_sab_roundswitch 0 (or maybe 3) - thoughts???

The settings had already been changed for SAB but we forgot to restart the server to make the settings take effect. It has now been restarted with SAB set to 5 rounds for win (best of 9). If that is too much we can try 4 for win (best of 7)

Killcam was on so that newer people can use it to learn the game more quickly but i can be easily turned off. Thoughts?

My vote is 'Off' but I'm not fussed either way tbh.

Have to say that I hadn't even thought of using the kill cam to find secreted enemies (obviously more fool me then).

Not very dMw :eyebrow:

Vaguely ambivalent about it and will go with the flow

I hadn't either, but it's blantantly there for use. Let's turn it off.

I sort of agree about the chase cam being turned off, but I hope that won't disable the death replays as they are one of the best bits IMO (I do get to view rather a lot of them:rolleyes:)

Having played on Sabotage maps with best of 9, can we lower it to best of 5 please otherwise it can take an age to complete the cycle - particularly when you have evenly matched teams

Changed - although I thought it made for a particularly good scrap with people trying to use tactics instead of just rushing.

Chasecam set to follow own team rather than free view.

Killlcam still enabled.
