Can members please take note that whilst we appreciate good comms relating to the game,
and we don't mind a little bit of banter,
WE DON'T WANT TO HEAR YOU CLEARING YOUR THROAT,
GOING "EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRMMMMMMMMMM" WHILE YOU THINK OF THE NEXT STUPID COMMENT,
OR TELLING US ALL YOUR PREFERRED BEVERAGE.
please use comms sensibly or you will be kicked severely
Clear my throat if I want to.
Jeez! Another grouch! What is it about comms this week? There's Oldie getting his knickers all twisted, now you shoutin' in RED already!
Go and have a lie down. :D
Yes have to agree with blunty, keep it short and sweet :) the chief culprits learnt his lesson now I think :)
I have spoken:sideways:

Yes, it's not useful having people having a chat while you listen for someone walking around.
Chatters - Wait till your dead
Admins - Don't go round kicking them, heavy handedness makes the game less fun.
Is there no admin command to play songs by steps to one specific player as a punishment? More fitting...they'll get the message people don't want to hear it.

Sure you can clear your throat but do you have to do it over voice com? What is next? That we need to hear you taking dump? :sideways:
Keep the VC garbage free while playing.
I'm with you on this Blunt.
It's worth noting that if you have your voice comms set to voice activation (I can't actually recall if it's an option in CS:S, as i've never wanted to use it for precisely this reason) it'll tend to pick up all this excess that other people don't want and broadcast it. Bind a button to push when you want to talk, and use that rather than voice activation please. It's also less likely to cut the beginning off your sentence. Same goes for Teamspeak et al.

No, my orange friend,
This is not voice activated accidental noises.
This is annoying teens who think that EVERYTHING they say and EVERY noise that they make is interesting and funny, and that we all want to hear it.
Which means that the rest of us can't hear the bomb call or anything else for that matter.
:ranting2:
edit: yes Ron, we know you are joking

YOU knew I was joking. :) If it makes a difference, I think you're bang on. I mute 'some folk' :sideways: as soon as they start their crap.

That's why you never reply!

Trouble with muting players is, as admin you need to know what people are saying.
If I could mute them for all players it would help, although it kinda defeats the ethos of the community.
Spamming the comms with piffle is against the server rules and will result in a warning/kick/ban.*
*Late Friday excepted :P

No TB, nobody was kicked or banned, just told (several times) to be quiet, use VC's for game oriented chat, I think that, by the end of the night, the idea had begun to form in the heads of the perpetrators that it might not be such a good idea to inform everyone that coffee was yuk, and it was
not ok to whisle tunes.

I was on a TF2 server last night where 2 or 3 of my team thought they'd quote Family Guy and tell everyone how much they live it and who their favourite characters were. If it had been CS:S I think I would have resorted to knee-capping them.

Thankfully I don't have that millstone, well, I don't exercise it. (Mmm, can you
exercise a millstone? :sideways:)

Push it down a hill :bleh:
Can anyone mute other players in CS:S?
I remember it could be done in early CS, and maybe CZ.

oh yeah, just hit escape, player list, pick the one you need to silence, mute in-game voice....

Yep. Confine yourself to out and out dickheads though. :D No, that doesn't include me! :flirty:
Have to agree with this. You shouldn't have to mute people if they follow this rule anyway.
Quote from: T-Bag;243490Admins - Don't go round kicking them, heavy handedness makes the game less fun.
Last night was ridiculous. The inane chatter about coffee, tea, whistling and other banter was just plain puerile.
No we didn't kick anybody but I was tempted. If it continued ad nauseum then I would have.
We know who it was, they know who there were and if it happens again then they're leaving. period.
It's not being heavy-handed. It's making the game as enjoyable as possible for the MAJORITY of players.
PEN
I can honestly say this is one of the major reasons why I haven't played cs in over a month now. I got fed up telling regulars what they already should know and act by. I must say it is not only the "14 year old" that do this ...
Most Fridays there's alot of inane banter going on but it's usually good fun and is mostly related to what's going on in the game.
I don't mind that, enjoy it.
Not sure if that's what your referring to Sadako.
Friday night chatter is all part of what Friday night is - a chance to let of steam with people you like and have a laugh into the bargain.
Oh and to play TCS :)

The rest of the week, general chat should be left for when your dead and should be kept at a mature level.
