So what do we want or need? Ideally we need on these forums to support DMR?
Option to convert the SOG section into DMR and set access to DMR only (ie remove all old SOG).
Set up a new DMR section and archive the SOG one.
Which topics, etc etc.
We also need an announcement post to go up now that WotLK has a launch date.
Infrastructure:
-rename SOG TS server to Dead Men Raiding
-council/officers
-aims
-standards
-rules
-application process
all of the above could be real simple (ie not needed), real short (ie a one-liner) or it could be a couple paragraphs. What do we want?
oh and can I have an invite for some of my toons! Poor old Jewelz cannot invite anyone.

dMr already exists - it is Dead men Racing. is this not going to cause confusion?
hopefully shouldnt cause confusion i think we need to all get toghter and have a chat about our aims 1st and foremost
DMR does what it says on the tin, it was the preferred name - and seeing as it is pasted above your head everywhere you go for the next 2 years...
I think BB has a good point about the name it may cause lots of Innocent deaths with people wandering onto the track... tho if figure it would not be shortened to Dmr in any topics but be classed as "Dead men Raiding"
As sheep say we need to outline what we want from it just changing the name will only be a kick in the lower area for the few that are still flying the sog banner. I know a lot are not active in sog but they hold the name with great pride
Setting of raid days can be tailored to suit other areas of the community eg Friday tends to be css day Thursday is long race day Monday is COD so members can get to enjoy the full package dMw offer
I think hold a meet. If we want to be a raiding force we will need major commitment from a fair few people regarding setting up raids / recruitment / availability/ sign up site/ apps ect....... and at the moment I don't see it. On the other side we can build a nice social bunch that raids the 10 mans once or twice a week. Thats the big question for me when we know that we can decide how to make it happen
It's OK, you can have the dMr tag, we'll call ourselves Dead Men Steering or Dead Men Driving or Dead Men Crashing. We're easy. :)
The point of the thread was to bring those ideas together following recent TS chats seeing that we now have a date for WotLK. If anything happens it needs planning now and execution before WotLK goes live.

To enable DMR to plug into Dead Men Walking then you will need to appoint a 'Section Head Admin' who will ensure that DMR is run in the proper manner as defined by our player/admin standards.
Honestly never thought of the dMr name issue.
TL as soon as i get onto WoW and see you on i will invite and pass GM over (to be decided as and when).
I think we need to rename SOG folders to the new dMr or Dead Men Raiding. The people who will care the most about the change are already part of the bigger dMw and i doubt will have a big issue. It's a better move in my oppinion and something we should have done from the beginning.
It's currently not important to change GM, you can keep that until somebody agrees to take on the role!
I would also propose to donate the SOG guild bank to whatever dMw guild entity we end up with. Do current officers agree with this proposal or have any alternative proposals?

It's not an issue. There is absolutely no problem in the WOW section being called 'Dead Men Raiding' or having DMR mysteriously attached somewhere about your persons.
Jas, Squ0nk and Sheepy all made officers so they can add.
When i see someone online i will promote one to GM due to my inactivity lately.
moving sog bank over is a damn good plan as i feel that dmr is the new incarnation of sog just under a fresh banner for a fresh start

Don't let me hear you say that ... dang! too late. :D
dMr Should have been made from the start.
Partly my fault i suppose as i was one of the first to buy and play it but at the time i needed a break from CS and took that as being away from dMw.
Lets make up for it by keeping to the dMw roots and make a place for people to join as a community then work from there.
We could make a Delta style group of the old days for CORE raiders..... but lets start with somewhere for people to group together to reach 80.
Just having the Dead Men title makes it feel all warm and cosy already :P
Apologies for not being online last 2 days. I had electricians at y house on Tuesday and having spent most of the day with my PC and NAS box turned off whilst they cycled the power to figure out and fix my heating, they gave me the all clear to power up at 4pm - I did and then they promptly tripped an RCD by accident. Net result was my PC's raid10 array was hosed. That'll teach me to use a UPS (one ordered and due for delivery tomorrow morning), but in the mean time I have had to reinstall things. Fortunately I had a backup complete on Monday morning, so I only lost a day of stuff, but it's still a pain having to reinstall Windows and the raid/image software to then watch for 6 hours whilst an image restores itself to the array.

I know we're gathering toons already, but before it is too late or too troublesome to change, do we have any other thoughts on name to avoid a duplication of dMr? Oldie quite liked Dead Men Wraiding, but then that's possibly an even bigger clash with dMw itself. I know we have already spoent some time discussing alternatives and seeing what could be registered as a guild name, but I just want to make sure we have covered all the possibilities before we end up committed to one particular route. So, if you have any other suggestions please post them here for discussion.
TL.
Dead Men Warcrafting was the original guild name Smite registered, but it was felt to be a bit too much of a mouthful.
Dead Men Raiding is what is currently registered.
If I may. Nothing wrong with Dead Men Raiding as long as you initialise it as DMR not dMr (we were there first :D ) Everybody happy, nez pas?
or DmR ???
Damn i like Dead Men Wraiding.
I wanted to try and keep the dMw ethos/theme but couldnt come up with anything better than Warcrafting.
possibly dMw Raiding?
You can have Dead men Walking (guild name) and Dead Men Raiding (forum section name).
CSS is 'Dead Men Walking'
CoD4 is 'Dead Men Walking'
Live for Speed *could* have been 'Dead Men Walking' with the forum section name being 'Dead Men Racing'
'Dead Men Walking' is who we are. The games we play are varied and may or may not carry a different tag/badge.
When we started a CoD4 section - we didn't insist it was called 'Dead Men Codding' so don't get too hung up on the name or the tag.
the only discussion is really over guild name as we cant have "dead men walking" or "deadmen walking" the game wont let us take them

Ahh. I see.
