Title: LAN Cable
Post by: TeaLeaf on July 28, 2003, 06:40:40 PM
This thread is part of the preparation for the network planning for the LAN.

If you are able to bring your own network cable(s), or better still a roll of network cable with plugs and a crimping tool to the LAN, then please post here and provide some idea of the length of cable that you will be bringing (or the roll length) so that we can start to assess what we will be able to physically cable at the LAN.

Please do not post in this thread unless you have a relevant comment to make.

Thank you.

With reference to this and the other two associated threads, I can bring whatever I'm told to bring in the way of cables/cards etc for my PC.

I have no clue as to what to exactly to bring though, so a list of required stuff would be a big help, either here or in another thread.

I have infinite 2-3m cables (straight) and a few 15m (straight) can drag up the odd one or two crossovers, but not good lengths.

When I get chance I'll see if I can loom some longer together to keep it trim.

There will be a definitive list of things to bring posted nearer the date.  If you want an idea of what is usually needed somewhat sooner than that then you can check the previous threads in Dead LAN Walking topic.

I'll bring a reel of cat5 along with crimpers and pole connectors.

I've also got some pass-thru connectors so I'll wire up a few short cross-over cables..... meaning we can run a crossed cable of any length quickly and easily.

I too can bring my extensive collection of tools for your pleasure and delight.

Running low on cat5 stranded though, I'll have to get some more.
