Post by: b00n on October 20, 2008, 01:49:28 AM
Just thought I'd remind everyone of the Boffer Sell Off (http://boffer.co.uk) which is going for the next couple of days.  I've been watching it and already bought a 160GB media centre and a 250GB HDD/DVD Recorder.. it's addictive.

It sys they're daily but obviously it's updated more frequently than that. Is it random or what's the shelf-life of each promotion?

There normally is only one per day, changing at 23:59 every night, but as of last night they're running a sell off which is basically a bunch of products one after the other until each one sells out.  They say it'll last for about 72hrs.

Edit: Now up - Philips DVDR3570H DVD Recorder with 160GB Hard Disk and USB [DVDR3570H], £54.99.

According to the forums the next item up is on ebay for £70 atm and will be boffered for £8.99 - no hint on what it is yet though. :flirty:

Looks like I've created a bunch of boffaholics.

This is their second sell-off and I must admit that the quality of the stock is definitely more consistant than the first time around.

It was one good item followed by a load of crap, this time around they seem to be putting crap up less frequently.

The rubbish stuff usually comes around 1am to allow people to sleep and again at around lunch time.

They actually had an iPod controlled vibrator (OhMiBod (http://www.ohmibod.com/ohmibod.html)) on a few weeks ago as one of their daily offers, a real hit with the ladies. I thought it was a joke, but it wasn't.

Two of my Boffer items arrived today - a 20Gb pocket portable harddrive and a 160GB media centre.

I set up the media centre first, which was pretty easy since it just appears as a USB harddrive on the PC under XP/Vista.  Copied over about 28GB of random tv shows I had lying about on my PC, which took 25 mins, then plugged it into the TV.  When I eventually read the manual to discover I needed to take it off standby to get a picture, there was a pretty basic menu which clearly listed the folders I'd copied.  So far it seems to play them all perfectly - much better than streaming from my PC to the xbox 360 as there's a huge quality loss in downsampling and downsizing.  Now I can watch my videos with no loss in quality and without needing my PC on in the background. :yahoo:  Very happy with this considering it was only 40 quid.

The portable HDD does what it says on the tin, also a good bargain at 15 quid.

WooHooo!

My "Bag (box) of Crap" has arrived.

But, its not a TV :(.

My BOC consisted of.....

100 CD-R DataWrite Titanium disks
1 x USB-MiniUSB cable
1 x Elecom power-free compact speakers  (http://www.amazon.co.uk/ELECOM-Clamshell-Portable-Speakers-Pink/dp/B000ELL2TI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1225209637&sr=8-1)(in white)
1 x Gear4 iPod HouseParty II Speaker Dock (http://www.microanvika.com/product.asp?PNO=IOG19356) (with Vol+ button knackered, has a remote though)

Both of the above speakers have quite good reviews on Amazon.

Not bad for £8.
