Title: All you ISDN people out there.
Post by: JB on July 31, 2003, 10:16:55 PM
I gotta go somewhere tomorrow to fix some cctv transmission equipment that goes out over an isdn2 box(the one with the curved front thats about 5inch wide and 3 inch deep)
However the little green light is no longer on, on the front of the 2e box and being a total isdn noob, i wondered what could cause this to happen.  Apparently BT has tested the line and reported that it is ok.

My ISDN green lights confirm two things:

- that the line is OK (it self test every few seconds).
- that the box is plugged in to a power supply.

Err is it plugged in?  Beyond that my ISDN knowledge could be written on the back of a stamp.

Wow so many helpful replies and all in 1 place.  Anyway thanks go out to TL and the erst of you can go TANGO yourselves.    :P

Turns out the isdn was working fine, just the piece of clear plastic that goes from the front of the box onto the green light wasnt aligned up right so it wasn't shining through.

Yet another story line for Dogbert's IT Helpdesk  :D
(paraphrased)

Dogbert:  Hello, welcome to Dogbert's IT Helpdesk, how may I abuse you?
Customer: My mouse has stopped working.
Dogbert: What do you mean 'it has stopped working'?
Customer: Well it goes all the way over to the left but then gets stuck at the edge of the screen and won't go any further.
Dogbert: Have you tried rebooting and then doing a reformat?
<...pause...>
Customer: Nope, that didn't work and now I can't find my data files....
Dogbert: Have you tried pushing your monitor further to the left to give the mouse some extra room?
<...pause...>
Customer:  No, it's still stuck there on the edge of the screen...
Dogbert: Ahah, I know what it is, you need the new $200 mouse mat extension pad, they're on special today only

etc etc
