just wanted to say the game is awesome!
anyone fancy a game?
feel free to pmme or talk to me on steam!
anyone fancy a game tonight?:)
I don't like it much tbh.
Dod's is better and COD4 is much better
We haven't even played it on the LAN.
Played it a bit and it seems to be the previous version in an WW2 jacket.
3 maps only and allready played them, not to fond of them.
Larger maps are needed.
Also still annoying; "This key is allready in use" stuff
Got FallOut 3 now which I've started playing
yeah theres some larger maps in the retail game and theres also about 13 in total i think
Seems weird to release it so soon after COD4 just a cash cow, games hashed out like this loose my respect and don't even give themselves chance to stand the test of time.
So everyone just goes back to CSS and DODS.
i was a huge fan of COD2 and, well, i like this one quite much actually...
maybe cause i like WW2 shooters!?
this one came out so soon because it is basically adding to cod4 and the devs have admitted that fact

Yeah, like BF2142 *cough, cough*
Actually I have to thank EA for one thing - that they have so good clips at the CoD site. I had preordered the game, but after looking at the clips quickly canceled it.
I like WW2 scene more than the modern. That's why this was more tempting than CoD4 (which I do not have). I had already forgotten most of the reasons I hated the whole CoD4. Thanks to the video clips these quickly came back to my mind.
The damn development team has borked already the second game in the series. It is nothing but shoot 'em up with increasingly stupid stuff. Can't hit anything? No problem get a Master blaster achtung portable howitzer (TM) and blow the enemys through 12 walls. Then fart a screen of mustard gas before escaping the scene in a flying saucer. CoD2 is still the best in the series.
I have noticed a few of the guys mentioning a liking to WW2 although I never see or hear any mention of Day of Defeat or Red Orchestra?
I think EA should have another bash at a WW2 game though.
I love Red Orchestra - sadly I am in a bit of a minority.
And yeah CoD 2 was great :)

Patch 1.1 for CoD 5 (WAW) has been released 3 days before the game is released!!!
Get it here (http://www.callofduty.com/intel/173)
to avoid having to click through a million webpages :sideways: here is direct link (http://www.worthdownloading.com/game.php?gid=3428) to list of files
thx blueball!!
to be honest what they should have done is really continued with CoD:4
because going foward in time throughout the games then drasstically going back its stupid
my opinion and possibly others:D

Just started the solo game and can't get F5 to quicksave :sideways:
I'll Google it later cos I need to kill some zombies.:D
got the game, installed it, and it wont even get into the game :ranting2:
downloading the patch to see it that works !
downloaded the patch, didn't work :(
So went into my XP install (same PC) and works fine, so i imagine its a vista / direct x10 thing :g:
Vista error message: Error during initialization: Unhandled Exception caught
Edit: solved, after hours and hours of researching and trying various things, this is how i resolved it:
1- Go to Control Panel
2- The click on "Hardware and Sound"
3- Click on "Sound"
4- Doble click on "speakers"
5- go to the Advanced tab
6- Set the default format to "24 Bit, 48000 Hz (Studio Quality)"
7- Thats it!
all this after messin around with directX 9.0C, dxsetup, etc (which apparentely you still need this even if you are using vista!)
Finished it today. Thought it was short and poorly scripted but did have a couple of good cinematic scenes.
I can never be arsed with the single player of ANY game much less this one. The acid test is, for me, how good is the online play. I think this one is stacking up well.
Anyone tried (or want to try) the co-op format? I assume it's like up to 4 people play through the solo script of the game.
I (contrary to much of the opinion on this post) love the game. The quality of the graphics and expecially how smooth it runs (typical COD, always has run well) is impressive.
Bert
mine turns up next week so when it does i'll be up for a game or 2 :thumbsup2:
will pm ya when its installed :)
:yahoo: it finally arrived yesterday . Installed, updated and quite impressed. Ok its similar to cod4 but some of the maps a superb !
Been looking forward to some 4 player co-op so anyone fancy it ?
catch me on steam if you fancy a game sometime
I've found the 1Para War server to be a friendly place to play - no martyr, no last stand :)
:thumbsup2:
Just bought the game..
:boxing:
Ok folks, I got cod5 for crimbo, hoorah. It took two hours to install and then the dreaded blue screen of death when i hit the play button. Rainbow6 vegas took a long while to install too but it did play ok afterwards. I installed cod5 twice, once from each dvd drive and it took the same time. Both drives cant be knackered so the quick question is.... how long should/did your cod5 take to install, roughly?
If two hours is normal, i'll take to the pub and prop up a wobbly table with it.
Cheers,
Slider.
Downloading it atm through Steam, takes a while...
Wanted to buy it through play.com but they ask for 29,99 pounds 41 Euros.
:g:er... i remember it taking a while to install but 2 hrs:blink:
half hr max i would say.... but def worth the wait:)

Cheers Matey, i knew 2 hours was abit much but i thought i'd better check before attacking the pc.
have added my shop brought cod waw to steam, but for some reson can't activate it :sideways: saying invalid cd code
so i can't join anyone who playing......
any ideas chaps
Is it possible to un-add it from Steam? Don't give to Steam that which is not Steams. If they had their way, you would have to add your first born to Steam. :sideways:
It's Steam....
Reinstall?

Steam and retail versions of games do not always go together. What you will need to do is to install it from DVD and enter the key you have and then add it to Steam using the "add a non-steam game" option.
The only game I ever got where the key for the CD was compatible with Steam was L4D

thats basically what i did, i installed waw over a month ago and it wasn't untill i noticed someone on steam playing that i decided to add it to steam, so i could join them.
but unlike my other games(steam brought) was unable to.
so i put in the cd code into steam, to activate it and see if that worked, but as i said it didn't except the code:sideways:
so its inherent problem with steam ? :g: or worth a reinstall

I think the problem lies more in that steam are allocated only certain licenses. Therefore their database only holds the ones that they can sell. However, steam isn't under any obligation to provide you with the ability to input the code as you haven't made a contract (paid them any money for the game) so why should they do it. I to wish this worked but it seems that only valve games will add to steam. Besides at least the retail copies no longer ask for a cd like hl2 did :D

You can add CoD4 to Steam using the "add non-Steam game" option
I think can just add shortcut's into the steam game's folder?
That's right and is what I have been trying to say all along. I have just added retail CoDWaW to Steam by doing this to prove to myself that it works.
Delankster,
Ensure you use the "Add non-Steam Game" button and NOT the "Activate a Product on Steam" button.

Sry BB should have explained myself a bit more clearly:doh: just read over my earlier post and can see were the confusion started
I have added both CodWaW and Cod4 to steam and they work fine
The problem i was having was that i wanted to join a fellow dMw'r online in a game of Waw
but steam didn't give me that option, compared with css or l4d, it would have a
join now linky thing under their name letting me jump straight into a game with them.
So it was at this point i tried to activate the game on steam to see if this would solve it.........
But it wouldn't accept my game code
hope thats clearer....
so is it just games brought thru steam that you can join friends with ?
Maybe adding players through CoDWaW is a better way.
Not sure how to do that yet but my online profile is DuVeL-
With the game tag on; [dMw]DuVeL-
Maybe that's worth a try?
:thumbsup2: ok will give it a try m8
I bought this game a while ago and after playing some CoD 4 the other day thought I'd check this out and it's pretty fun. Does anyone else play this still?
I could use some suggestions of servers and times so we can get a game together. I haven't hit double digits in rank yet so I'm still pretty n00b.
Still play it occasionally here, make sure your patch up and with the latest maps packs (there's a thread with the links)
Same here. I'm a Master sergeant, you know the one, been in the army since 1916 still only a sergeant, but one with a paunch.

I've got the Steam version so I don't have to worry about patches. I'm not sure if the map packs get piped across steam. If they're official they get piped with other games, so hopefully it's the same with this.
Anyway next time anyone is playing I'd appreciate an invite.
I still play it from time to time.
I have one in my favourites that uses boltaction rifles only and is well adminned.
If anyone wants a game, give me a shout on Steam as I have bought it through that aswell. Maps are downloaded through that automaticly.
