well tiss thursday again and would like to wish all that dare, all the very best.
Really like this car and feel this is a cracking track to race it on..
so should turn out to be a great race...
have fun :flirty:
Well, I really liked this combo. Enough to actually do some setup work on my car, and found a balance I liked.
Come race day, qualified P3 behind Moose and Seany, nice. :D
The race, WELL WHAT A TOTAL AND UTTER DISASTER.
Punted onto the grass on lap 3 or 4 by John Rees, I made a small mistake which allowed him along side. As I can see the front of his car and there is a chicane ahead, I'm just thinking I'll brake a bit early and give him the corner, when boink, hip and shouldered. :ranting2:
Get going again and although there does not look much damage, the car wont turn. So off for a long early stop. I wont get a podium now, but there are still points up for grabs, so head down and off we go.
Every single blooming time I come up behind someone they have a tank slapper and an unavoidable collision ensues.
1st up is Celtic, crunch, but lightly, no damage, no problem. Then I catch StableX, he is very defensive, and as I'm just coasting into a turn behind him, he gets a little out of control, **** BRAKE, so I tap him into a spin. I wait for him to recover which seems to take ages, with half the field driving by.
Off we go again. More defensive driving from StableX means its a couple of laps before I get past, an enjoyable battle but costly in time.
Next up behind ????? and once again they get a tank slapper on and a collision is again unavoidable. This time the front left suspension is badly damaged.
Once I realise that the car is pretty much un-drivable, well the final straw broken, I leave in a huff. :taz:
Some days, it just isn't meant to be.
I took part.
Apparently thats what counts.
Borrox. :)
Lots of starters, lots of finishers. Perfick! :) Judging from the radio chatter, lots of w.t.fs and f.f.ss and I was not last! :) Now for those poxy BF1s
The replay is up and also the replay from last week, cheers Sean, I am a plonker.
Fun fun fun :)
After qualifying 1st and strangely starting from the back  I enjoyed this race a hell of a lot. One of the most fun races I've had in a long time.
Now , i may be having a brain fart, but where do i find the replay?
Unlucky Deetz, sounds like you had a real 'mare.
Was a bit of a mixed race for me. Had a good qualify but struggled a bit at the start and was down to third or fourth while I got used to the fuel load. Then Deetz and John had their coming together and I was back up the front. Was quite smooth sailing from there, but I had John in my mirrors a lot. Next up was Moose who took the lead but he had to work for it :), things started to go down hill after that. I had a coming together with Doors as he was leaving the pits, I got
way too close and he moved the tiniest of fractions over and I bounced off him which put me onto the grass across on the other side of the track, now I had to brake for T1 - It wasn't happening :), so I ended up spearing into the side of Doors for a second time  sorry. I think it was a racing incident, I should have taken a much tighter line on the corner where I passed you, that said I still have to see the replay! :D.
After all them shenanigans, I was in forth but made more mistakes as my tyres lost all their temperature, should of changed them in the pits.
Finished 6th in the end irc
Well done to moose
An enjoyable and eventful race!

It is in with the team skins section

Did you disconnect then reconnect? A good start though, I held you up for 0.000003 of a second

Left hand column/Dead Men Racing/Team skin downloads, click link in post/Replays. Yes we'll get the navigation bar changed. :)
Congrats Moose :yahoo: Don't be pitted/spectate when the race start countdown hits one or you're put at the back of the grid.
I didn't qualify and started at the back, both starts saw me shoot through the pack into midfield by the second corner but suffered low fps and backed out of the pack. I went round and around, had a few "911 through the hedge backward" moments, bending my right front suspension at about half race. 55 mins in the front left tyre burst at the chicane before the pits, they only changed that tyre and I went around for another two laps nursing the thin right front tyre and finished I think in my usual 13th place.
This weeks memorable quote is "nobodys gonna get lapped" :D
Hi, all I beg people to watch the replay as I did last night sorry deetz I held a dead straight line it was your move to get the line I then held dead side by side , you hit me :( check it out please everyone.
I'll fraps it if you want, but please watch it if your unsure. It is clear to see.
The only one I was unsure of was I tapped Sean while he was out of shape in the same place that one was maybe a bit my fault as I was behind so I'll hold a hand to that but as DOORZ say that is racing, I EVEN SLOWED AND LET SEAN BACK THORUGH :narnar:
but I urge you to look at the deetz one if there is anyone unsure, watch it from the outside behind shot its VERY clear to see what happened.
But as I said sorry
Good race!! :flirty:
Quote from: Doorman;249946Now for those poxy BF1s
It will be a great week to catch up with the Skip Barber.
I enjoyed this race. One minute before race start I decided to start with half the fuel and refuel during the pitstop, hoping this would give me a slight advantage over the guys carrying the full load at the start :)
At the second race start I jumped the gun because all the chatter on Ventrilo got me out of my concentration :ranting2: So drive-through penalty for me, which put me back a few positions.
After the penalty I started catching and passing some people who were considerably slower than me in some corners. I assumed this was because they were carrying more fuel than me, so I was pleased :)
I had one incident with a dMr driver (forgot who) where I got punted off the track in T1, which cost me some time. Other than that the greater part of the race was pretty uneventful for me, save for the mistakes I made, which got more frequent towards the end of the race as my tyres were losing grip (I had them changed at the pitstop).
I finished 11th - just out of the points - which is pretty good for me considering the large field. A pity it didn't earn me any points.
I enjoyed it, thanks guys!
Oh btw, I'm sorry if I'm quiet on Ventrilo. It's just that my girlfriend usually watches TV in the evening, and the TV is standing right next to my computer. I'm pretty sure she would make fun of me if I started talking to my computer :D She often works in the evenings, though, so on those occasions I can talk a bit more :)
Quote from: o000o;249985Congrats Moose :yahoo: Don't be pitted/spectate when the race start countdown hits one or you're put at the back of the grid.
Ahh, of course  My reactions let me down for once :) Still, I'm rather glad i did start from the back, it made it
lots of fun.
Really enjoyed the little fight with Sean btw :) I got past him only for him to get back past me pdq. We definitely had different setups or fuel loads, as he was getting out of the tight corners much quicker and shot past.
Thanks for pointing me towards the replay chaps:thumbsup:
I'm really looking forward to the BF1's, having never raced them in a long race before. It's going to be a bit scary though, wind plays havoc with these beasts, especially at Westhill. It's going to be very interesting.

I used the same tactic! It seemed to be working well, because I noticed I was very much on pace with the cars ahead of me on the first couple of laps. On the second lap I was chasing Aquilifer through the "hairpin section" when he had a bit of a spin, and I didn't manage to react fast enough to avoid hitting him, thus loosing control. That cost me a couple of positions. However, taking advantage of my low fuel load, I was able to catch up and regain position rather soon. :) Some great battles involved!
In the last part of the race I had a good battle with Aqui. I was able to overtake him but I could never build a big gap. When just a few laps remained there was a yellow flag incident on the back straight, so I eased off a little to gain an overview of the situation. Aqui took the opportunity to slip past me. I pushed on to catch up, but made some mistakes and figured out it would be best to play safe and be content with fourth. :)
Good race!
Quote from: John_Rees;249994Hi, all I beg people to watch the replay as I did last night ...
Excellent reminder that people shouldn't vent their spleen in the forum particularly if they haven't watched the replay. :sideways:
Remember, we have a procedure (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=24870) if people are feeling particularly hard done by.

Sorry mate, I was under team orders. Boogle was shouting at me in vent to go defensive and give him a little time. Of course, I tried to fight your case but with his Barry White assertive tone, while quoting, "
You're The First, The Last, My Everything", I crumbled and took the defensive line! :taz:
Really good race and nice to see so many finishers too. The BF1 will be excellent I think..... :)

I watched the replay again and realised just how wrong deetz's comments are and due to recent events with the admin and my "failure to make dmr due to my bad temperament" cough :) I would like to defend the occasion and hopefully shed some light on the propaganda and in some cases pure bull$hit said about me.
I have frapped the deetz/john moment for all to see, its quite funny at the tbh, I hope deetz you can see that to and see I'm only defending myself and I will do in future as the gloves are off LOL
I will always defend myself as I now feel it is needed but I will always do it in "Clean Fair Fun" as the dmr logo says. hhhm
Peace friends, Johnny.
P.S i Mean that, "my mates" if you excuse the pun ;)
looks like a racing incident to me :norty:
A disappointing race for me, again. I really need more practice before races. This way I only get myself frustrated.
I was quite happy with my qualification performance. The race started also well, I'm talking about T1, but we had an accident with BigFatCat before the end of the first lap. We both could have done a bit better to avoid it. I could have left BFC a bit more room to let him take the corner, so I only blame myself sticking to my line so early in the race.
Soon I was chasing CrazyR1, like many times before, and it was great fun. At about 30 minutes I finally got to close enough to try something. That something turned out to be something else than I had expected. I felt I was there only physically, not in spirit like Lameduck. I started going wide in the corners and did not really have any consistency anymore. I hit the wall twice and then went wide into the grass in the last corner. There was nothing left for me to do. My throat was sore and I could not speak a word so I just left.
But I always try to see positives. Seany has been in a good form recently, though this was not your race. Looks like I need to work hard in the coming combos to be able to fight you again. I'm gonna accept the challenge. :D Christmas is getting closer and I sense that it might bring me a shifter. Also in the coming weeks I'm going to work with my cockpit a bit, to improve driving position and put small wheels under it. Oh, and I have to put together my G25 with 4 buttons on the wheel. Sweet.
F1?
F1 at Westhill? :g:

A cockpit with wheels on it? That's realism for ya! :D
Quote from: Gnomie;250037A cockpit with wheels on it? That's realism for ya! :D
:D
It's in a very tight space. Because of triple display setting I have to have it a bit off of the wall. With small wheels under I could push it against the wall when not in use.
So it was not what you thought, but I like your idea!
Quote from: Gnomie;250037A cockpit with wheels on it? That's realism for ya! :D
Yes. Cars usually have wheels, don't ya know?
My qualifying was bit hard. Could not quite get the speed I had had during the few days. Only at the very last lap I managed to climb a bit. Anyway the starting place was good enough for me certainly.
Started with 50% fuel and decided to make a stop halfway.
In the beginning I tryed to stay with the hot shots, but they were simply too fast for me in that fuel load at least. If I tryed to increase speed my lines started to go bad and tyres heat up and locking. There was lot of race left so didn't try to go faster than my limit.
I had constantly problems in the slow corners after the 1st split. Especially the corner coming to the long downhill part. At lap 2 I lost grip in the rear end and wobbled heavily. Unfortunately Gnomie got the corner much better and hit my rear end. Sorry for that again. If you said it happened so fast you couldn't react, so was the situation here too. I thought it was racing, so I decided not to wait after some thinking. I did have a slight moral hangover throughout the whole race anyway. Sadly, Gnomie dropped down as he spinned I guess.
I was driving comforably and tryed not to lock wheels. Then little before 30 mins I spotted some orange triangle closing in the map...quick glance at the time table...oh my, Gnomie is closing fast! I had to find some more speed. Gnomie pitted around 30 min mark too, but before me. I decided to do few more fast laps that I manage to come back to track ahead of him after my pit stop. Grease monkeys changed my front left tyre and added 42% more fuel. I managed to come out of the pit little ahead of Gnomie.
I had a fight great with Gnomie for the rest of the race. We did very close same lap times and some mistakes here and there changed the gap constantly to some direction. I had still problems in the slow corners, but IIRC it was the last chicane before the start line, I made a mistake and Gnomie got past me. It seemed for a while he would get aways from me. Then something happened at the right corner at the bottom of the downhill (IIRC). To me it seemed that he was sliding slightly after losing some of the rear end. I attacked on the outside getting past. If there was a yellow flag I didn't notice it. Have to check.
Great race and I was happy I was able to drive FZR on this track. :woot2:
/me holds hand up.
I did have a nibble at Romus at T4, I was a way back but stuck my nose hopefully up the inside and couldn't brake to avoid him as he came across.
Then I found my true form and blew a tyre 3 inches past the pits, deranging the suspension so I spent some time in the pits, redecorating the lounge and writing my Xmas list while I waited. I was left about 3 weeks behind everyone else so kept myself awake by being lapped, blue is such a peaceful colour.
Overall?

Best post in this thread so far. :thumbsup2:
Hiya lads, how are yall doing here ?? :D
I had a rather strange race. I qualied somewhere in the midfiels. Not sure were to be precise. But for some reason I was put at the back near moossie. As the racer I am i was gonna give him a run for his money. :lmfao:. Well only thing i did see was a backfiring CR FZR taking over other cars like they were standing still.
Since I used the same pit tactics as Obsolum I did take some places but kinda stopped for me around the 10th place. The gap between me and nr11 (dont know the name changed a lot of names during race) was so big i could easily pit changed my tires and took some fuel.
After that it was downhill quickly. Dont know what happend but the lapetimes droppped like a fly.
Gap was still big enough for me to bring the car home in 10th place. Thanks for racing was a nice race. Bit boring doing all these laps alone. :crying:
And for the crap (excuse me) thats I guess is what racing is about. Sometime you win sometimes you loose. Unless your Moose :yahoo::yahoo:
Having checked the replay I hereby declare the I, dMrDoorman did impinge on the line of dMrSeany whilst I was exiting the pits, causing him dire consequences, to wit, a crash! Sorry Sean. :vsorry:
Sorry Deetz but I was nursing a **** poor set for the whole race and with 55% fuel the back end was very snappy as you witnessed unfortunately on two occasions :g: BTW it was the same set I was racing on sunday which was fine with 20% fuel running consistant 2.39's but loaded up I was driving a ****ed up pig :eyebrow:
Remind me next time to do a trial run with a fuel load
