On Dead Men Racing 2 is a preview of next weeks offering. :norty:
Can't wait to take my stylish purple Mr. Bean-car for a spin! :yahoo:
This week, however, I'll focus my attention on the terrible stereoid-fed beast known as the BF1. :frusty:
Ah, looking forward to next week already. It'll be a nice change of pace :)

You and me both mate, you and me both.
This is going to be yet another best ever combo. :)
Cracking combo - good to be in the thick of it for a change.
I think some great racing is going to be had in this combo:)
Crazy A gave me a set today and said Seany did a 1.11 with it. Hmmm. May i please be excused from my skin and replace it with a shell? Wake me up in the spring and go easy with the bonfires.

No, you can join me at the back. No shame in being a tosser. :lmfao:

Can I join at the back, too? (http://www.lfsforum.net/images/smilies/shy.gif)
At first I thought I was going to do pretty good on this combo as I was running 1:14's and sometimes a high 1:13 while most others seemed to be doing high 1:14's and 1:15's. But then everybody's times began to come down to low 1:13's, 1:12's and even 1:11's while mine stayed the same  I haven't really had many good fights that lasted for more than one lap on this combo yet. Once they're past me I can't keep up. Oh well...

You'll have to slow down bit if you want to be a tosser! :lmfao:
I have uploaded a simple guide on this layout to youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tVbFCFNko4
It's as much a test about making this kind of a guide as an attempt to help some of you to find improvement. This lap is not my best, but works for this purpose.
Nice vid, smooth. What's your proccess chain?
Loving the combo also :D
Nice vid, Romus! That's pretty much the way I drive my best laps. Unfortunately I tend to make lots of tiny mistakes
And uh... me thinks that you're not using the H-gate shifter like I am :g:
Quote from: o000o;251203Nice vid, smooth. What's your proccess chain?
1. Another LFS installation dedicated for videos
- 640x480, 30fps, wheel visible, and some other settings
2. Grap the video with Fraps
3. Edit with Windows Movie Maker
- it's easy with WMM to make those still images with texts
Good link:

Quote from: obsolum;251210And uh... me thinks that you're not using the H-gate shifter like I am :g:
No, I'm flat shifting with G25 paddles. :D But that's gonna change before xmas I hope with a new shifter. G25 shifter was so far from the wheels and pedals quality that I could not keep me using it.
Excellent job Samu. :thumbsup2:
Nice race, good fun. I've been single dad this week, so I was a bit worried that my son would wake up in the middle of the race. It did not happen, but our dog was walking around alot and I was worried she would come and stubbornly beg me to scratch her like she sometimes does when I'm racing. It did not happen either, so I feel very lucky. I like stats, so here you are:
Nice race! :) By some lucky stroke I got a very nice lap during quali, so I got pole position. I tried desperately to hold onto it for as long as possible, but it only took Romus a couple of laps to make the pass. I kept up pretty well for a few laps, but then he slowly started inching away. It was kinda frustrating to watch, but there was nothing I could do about it. :) He was clearly faster.
Oh, and I know I've said this before but it bears repeating: you might have noticed that I don't post smileys or anything during the races. It's not 'cause I'm some grumpy *******, it's just because I prefer blocking the messages while racing.. I find it hard to concentrate otherwise. :) So here's a big ol' smile to all of ya for a good race tonight: :D
This evening has taught me two things. 1. Get on the server earlier and 2. Don't over rev your engine on lap one. It was painful to see everybody pull away from me on the 'fast' sections. :byebye: Oh well, I finished. Shame about the disco-ees. Well done Romus and all who trailed in behind him. :D
This was a very fun race for me. I think the most relaxing I've had so far in terms of keeping the car on the track. I started 13th but after a few laps I had moved up to 4th, about 2 seconds behind RSR.Cueball and a comfortable 7 seconds or so in front of Deetz. We all seemed to settle into a rythm and were just doing our laps. About halfway through the race I had krept up to RSR.Cueball's rear bumper and stuck to it for a couple of laps, having a few nice battles with him, until he turned in too early in T1 and smashed into the tyres. I was too close behind to avoid him and drove straight into him  No significant damage, but we were delayed enough for Deetz to pass us both. I tried hard to catch him again for the rest of the race but our laptimes must have been almost identical; his lead on me stayed about the same lap after lap. I was able to pass RSR.Cueball again when he made his pitstop only a few laps before the end, finishing 5th. That's my best result so far :)
A pitty there were so much disconnections like Doorz said.
Well done to everybody who finished the race! It was great fun as usual :)
EDIT: BTW, nice stats Romus! Interesting to compare stuff :)
Congrats Romus :yahoo:
After nicking Bobs place after he disco'd I spent the first half trying to catch BFC and the second holding up Aquilifer to finish 9th and on the same lap as the winner :D
Bad luck to Seany for leaving just before someone disco'd and to the disco's in the race
Thanks for last night's race - I was well gutted when my connection retrained 2 seconds before the start, but I really enjoyed it anyway once I managed to get in.
Best server I've raced on in LFS yet - no egos, no harder-core-than-thou attitudes, just a bunch of grown-ups who like racing.
I'll be there next week for sure, as long as you continue not to mind my noobishness...

Thanks Spoong, nice of you to say so. It's comments like that that make it all worthwhile. :) You're more than welcome, but arrive early. Some people couldn't get on the server because they ambled up to the gate at two minutes to eight, could they?

Aww that's a shame. :( Does that happen often? I've never noticed before.

First time. The power of advertising eh? :)
I'd call that a "luxury problem". :)
It sure was fun with all those cars on such a small track! Will the new server allow more cars on the grid?

Soon you won't even remember that LFS exists outside of dMr. :) Welcome.

You just wait until dummies get spat, then see what you think!!!:lmfao:
Welcome!
Missed again... Well, the training all week long provided a good share of fun so I am not this frustrated.
Thursdays are difficult and unpredictable at best for me, but life is life.
I will also miss the next 2 big races it seems, business trips in Italy and Germany are coming in the way. Argh and I just noticed customers coming the following Thursday as well!
I'll try XRTs tonight, should be fun as well but quite a challenge to keep off the wall.
Congrats to all who finished!
I was just starting to get back into my stride racing when i had a few issues with my PC:ranting2:, but there is now light at the end of the tunnel, the beast has been up and running for a few days and seems very stable, just awaiting for my hardrive to come back from the pc shop with my deleted files(family pics and my lfs folder).
so hopefully see you next week!!:yahoo:

Heya spoong, we're on every night :D I'd recommend getting a LOT of practise for next weeks 1 hour rallyX race :boxing:
Quote from: Gnomie;251914I prefer blocking the messages while racing.. I find it hard to concentrate otherwise.
I've just recently started racing without the minimap. One less thing to distract me. Then I quite frequently use a button which has command Shift-F mapped to it. I keep extre stuff hidden, except that sometimes I just take a quick look at position list, splits and lap times. I wonder why, if I block text messages, the Shift-F command somehow re-enables messages, so that I need to block messages also when hiding other stuff.
Occasionally I've thought of going offline from Ventrilo with 1h races, but I feel it's integral part of the dMr experience and haven't done it. It's part of the fun hearing all the comments during the race.
I just got a ticket from customs: my shifter has arrived! I've got to wait it till monday though.
I think it's very weird that even when the messages are blocked it still shows "xx has blocked messages" or "xx is now receiving messages".. I mean, why would I care as long as I've blocked my own messages..?
Using Ventrilo during races is not an option for me, as explained before. :(
well done all for last nights race :thumbsup2:

Rallyx ? NOOOOO ! , finally get a thursday off and was looking forward to some track action in the 1hr race. just my luck

I don't want to be a wet blanket but don't hold your breath for a good result. In my very n00bish days I lost all of my wife's work related files (shared PC in those days) I was tearing my hair out and a friend said "Take it to a friend of mine ,he's an absolute PC wizard. He does all my company's work" Of I trotted full of hope. :yahoo: After 20 minutes I marched out of his house with the 'ump. All he did was look in th Recycle bin!

Ah, so I'm not the only one who was a bit disappointed to see next week's combo :) I've never been a fan of RallyX but I'll give it a try. It might make for some good action-packed racing with the right drivers (ie. dMr :flirty:). It's just that I prefer asphalt under my tyres rather than dirt.

You're not the only one but in this lark you have to try to keep
all the people happy
all the time. (Cue BigFatCat with RAC dribble. :))
Well done to the winners, yeah it's a shame I didn't get on, I was pretty strong at this combo. A friend called over about 7:30 and wouldn't take the hint to leave :D . Ah well, like I said, I had some cracking races during the week so I can't complain :) .
Looking forward to Rally X this week. Don't think I have done an hour race or team racing on Rally before, so It should be a nice new challenge/experience. :boxing:

I never mentioned those ******* piles of ******* ********. My solution is to not turn up when something I don't like is on the menu.
My mother chose Thursday as the first time in 3 years to visit me. Parents ehh, who'd have em :narnar:
Was really looking forward to this one. Ohh well, grats to the podium guys.
RallyX is something I've hardly ever done in LFS so it should make a good change. See you in the dirt!
Well, all I've ever done on RallyX is the training stuff, and that only in a UF1, so I'm totally unprepared for 490 BHP of rear-engined death which lives to swap ends even on hard tarmac. :woot2:
That notwithstanding, fortune favours the brave, bring it on! See you in practice... :)
The RB4 is front engined and has 243 BHP.. But nonetheless, it's a step up from the UF1, for sure. Very well suited for rally! :)
Oh, I thought it was the 911 GT3 thingy. Pff, noobs, eh?

I will call you Spoon :)

:roflmao: I was swinging between Spong and Spoon. You've decided me. :D
Or maybe it's supposed to be pronounced as spoon-g... like "spoongie"? (http://www.easysmileys.com/img/thinking.gif)
:)
Oldie likes spoons.
Is there something wrong with pronouncing spoong? It's like the noise of that really really fiddly spring you're working on pings off behind the cupboard in the fluff bunny hell.

What's "bunny hell"? :)
Heh. Well, my original choice was "spong" but someone has it as an LFS userid - so I added an extra O to make the name unique, I have frankly no idea how it's pronounced.
You can call me "spoon boy" for all I care. :)

Ok "Sponge Bob" :thumbsup2:

Lol, think spoon and pong, stick em together and what do you get?
Sponge bob sounds fine to me :D oh and get on ventrilo (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=3363) spoong.
How about Spoonge Boob, both continuing the "two O's where you only need one" theme, and getting the word "Boob" in there? :)
