Post by: spudgun55 on November 18, 2008, 10:38:14 AM
had a frustrating night last night with my PC, i would connect to lfs as normal,  then about the 5min mark i would lose connection and vent would also disconnect,  i have checked my internet speed which was fine, it happens every time in lfs.     dont no where to start in what could be wrong?:g:

You say you lost LFS and Vent, which suggests loss of connectivity to dMw's servers as a whole rather than an LFS specific issue. Were you able to immediately reconnect, or did it take a while to get back on? If it happens again tonight (or whenever you next play), it might be worth setting up 2 pings, one to a dMw server and one to somewhere well known and stable (say, Google) and see if they both drop when you get d/ced or if only the dMw one does (or if neither does).

My first thought would be that either your ISP is having intermittent routing issues to dMw's hosting, or your home connection is having a very quick bouce and retrain periodically. As you said your speed seems fine I would be inclined tosuspec tthe former.

it only happens with LFS, tried it about 5 times last night and get the same red text in the game saying disconnected.:g:

Ventrilo isn't hosted by dMw so that isn't the problem. It's an ISP problem or router maybe. Do you use a router? If so, reboot it, maybe even look for the latest firmware.
