I keep getting this message on one of my machines (running XP)

I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling etc but it keeps coming back :ranting2:.

Uninstalling and removing all the files in the work folder, plus any in the temp and user setting folders too?

Umm not sure about the settings folder. I'll see if I can find it but that Documentsand settings tree is a nightmare.

Tried running the console version (as service)?  Different executable so might have different results.

Is the computer overclocked?

no not overclocked and I'll have a go running it as a service.

OK I've installed it as a Service rather than a system tray icon (fingers crossed).

I've only used system tray icons in the past so I can check they're running at a glance.

How does one check to see whether the system-based version is running and that all is ok with it?

If you go to the installation folder there are two files that provide info. The simple one is unitinfo.txt (which I have a link to on the desktop) and Fahlog.txt, which is a regular, incremental log.

To see if it is running bring up task manager and look for the FahCore***.exe and see that it is using CPU-time. *** means that the names change depending on various things. It can be names like Fahcore_78.exe, Fahcore_79.exe, Fahcore_a0.exe and so on...

You can start stop the service by going to services (type services.msc in run) and find the fah service (the name of the service has the path to the exe in it), right-click and choose pause or stop etc.

Initially, I would be sure that the service is taking cpu time, and in a while go to the fahlog.txt-file and see if it is completing percentages of the WU.

And when I start it it showed a dox box. I presume I can close the dos box without stopping it?

Would you mind doing a restart of the PC? Then go to console, wait for a min for F@h to fire up, and then see if the service starts to take up CPU-time.

If that does not fix it - please copy-paste the latter part of the fahlog.txt-file here.

Now that is strange. It does that when you install it first time, as you had before rebooting. Normally you'd live with that window until you reboot again and next time I'd be gone. So, that should not happen, it should run silent (in a very, very dangerous submarine kinda way). Sorry mate, I don't know :sad:Will google a bit!

sounds like it is running as an application and not a service. you might need to rerun config
