QuoteHALF-LIFE 2 DELAYED
REPORTED BY Corey Brotherson
We can hear the hearts breaking all around the world - Vivendi has confirmed Half-Life 2 has been delayed from its September release.
The PC bound first-person shooter was originally set for a September 30 launch, but now it's slated for late 2003, around Christmas. Developer Valve has yet to reconfirm this, so as of yet there doesn't seem to be a reason for the delay, but needless to say we'll hear more about this story when the time comes.
Due for release on 28/11/2003
:(

This is obviously a new use of the word 'faith' of which I was previously unaware :?

More HL2 movies.

No no no! D:
Oh WOW!
If you can stand the 120Mb DL you have *got* to see this. (http://csnation.counter-strike.net/#news6457)
It's a demo of HL2's Source engine showing some fantastic effects. Imagine a wet AntLion on a wet roof with the sun just starting to come out after a storm.
I'm looking at it with an old GFX card. God knows how much cooler it looks with something more 'now'.
Bloody drooling I am. :dribble:
Give me your user id and pass. I will NOT register ... friggin' leeches.
40 min wait, sod that. Any chance of it going on leech?

QuoteShacknews has finally received official word that Half-Life 2 will not be making its planned release date of September 30, something a quick glance at the calendar can confirm. Here's the quote from Valve's Doug Lombardi:
The previously announced September 30th release date for Half-Life 2 is being pushed back. We are currently targeting a holiday release, but do not have a specific "in-store" date to share at this time. We will release that information as soon as we have confirmed a new date.
Shock horror. <_<
Probally all done to create loads of hype and therfore more publicity so when it does finally comes out many more people will buy it. Im even sure they have a final date for release 8)
For holiday period read Xmas.
Still this is Valve we're talking about, the same company that has only managed to release one original game.....err........ever. So they're probably not very good at it yet.
Oops!
It appears that someone's managed to squirrell the HL2 source code out of VALVe.

Sadako sniggers.
BB slaps SADAKO with 30kg of wet haddock
One of the worlds betetr know software houses leave sourse worth that sort of cash sitting about on a unprotected PC running Outlook Express?
HoAx!! <_<
I agree....
Quote1) Starting around 9/11 of this year, someone other than me was accessing my email account. This has been determined by looking at traffic on our email server versus my travel schedule.
Ok, so change your passwords. Duh!
Quote2) Shortly afterwards my machine started acting weird (right-clicking on executables would crash explorer). I was unable to find a virus or trojan on my machine, I reformatted my hard drive, and reinstalled.
Well, this seems odd. Not come across a right-click crash before. Still, this bit is the most believable.
Quote3) For the next week, there appears to have been suspicious activity on my webmail account.
The next week? Man, can I have what your security guy is smoking, 'cause it must be some real good shit for this to continue for a week.
Quote4) Around 9/19 someone made a copy of the HL-2 source tree.
And you don't encrypt the folder? And why is it on your machine. Something this important should be on a server that is backed up and protected.
Quote5) At some point, keystroke recorders got installed on several machines at Valve. Our speculation is that these were done via a buffer overflow in Outlook's preview pane. This recorder is apparently a customized version of RemoteAnywhere created to infect Valve (at least it hasn't been seen anywhere else, and isn't detected by normal virus scanning tools).
Yeah right. So you install Outlook, a nice piece of software with MANY flaws in it's raw form and then you don't patch it up. I really do want some of that shit your security guy is on :)
Quote6) Periodically for the last year we've been the subject of a variety of denial of service attacks targetted at our webservers and at Steam. We don't know if these are related or independent.
Independant. Steam has pissed a lot of people off. You will get dicks like this trying to make a point. I dunno, maybe it makes them feel like their manhood grows bigger.
QuoteImportant: Just to be clear, it's ok to talk about the leak and the possible implications, however we'll nuke you and your family if you even make the most slight clever hint of where to download it or even screenshots of it.
I thought it was illegal to threaten harm to people in the USA? Kinda odd statement that.
More shock news. It seems that a lot more of HL2 was pinched than first admitted, including maps sounds and models. So much was pinched that it seems there is actually a playable copy of it doing the rounds!
Details Here (http://www.i4u.com/article676.html) and Here (http://www.bigkid.com.au/index.php?itemid=186)
So maybe we'll get to play it quicker than we thought ;)
I have a problem with buying HL2.... mainly because I have a problem with handing money over for anything off valve since they've turned into a bunch of wa%kers.

I am entitled to have a free copy of Half-Life 2. It came with my video-card. But first of all I don't understand anything of how to let them know I want a free copy and second of all, I don't really get a free copy, if I want it on CD I need to pay the shipping costs and material costs (thus paying almost the full price for the game  ), but there is also an option of to download it. But I HAVE to download Steam and some games. This is rather annoying because I already play on Steam, but they didn't thought of that option...So I have to make a new ID and donwload it from their servers or something...AAARGHH I am going crazy.
And the further the game is released, the more I feel like not pay any trouble to get the game. It should already have been released a few months ago. Stupid GRRRR *** ****** *** ******** **** *****
You've lost me around there somewhere in your post. You get a free copy but still got to have stuff shipped to you?
And why do you have to get Steam again and a few other games. :eyebrow:

This is the old movie. <_< I hoped it to be a new one. Don't download it if you have seen the previous videos that have been in circulation since summer 2003.

EXACTLY, that's it what I am wondering about too...I don't understand anything of how to get the game while I should get it for free, but I have to make a new Steam account, log me in using special key provided in the vid-card box download half-life gold pack or something and then I can get a free HL2 download (if i want the copy I have to pay lots of shipping costs and stuff)...

bugga, sorry guys didnt see this one is there going to be a new one released soon?
I pre-ordered it for £28 on shop.game.net (http://shop.game.net) back in August and just kept watching the release date fall back and back and back. :(
The good thing is that when it finally is released I'll be able to afford the GFX card to run it on and a mobo capable of 8xAGP :D , I'm still running a GeForce 2 MX400 64mb (the one you have to wind up with a key) with a 4xAGP mobo. .
Well the price is now 35 sigh :(
