I know it's not really official, but I've been doing the odd bit of admin here and there, map swapping mainly. Anyway, was going to stick anything useful I stumble on in this thread.

The other pieces that have crossed my mind are;
The 3 player infected spawn limit, that is there to balance the game. It can be changed, but if we did I think we'd need to knock the difficulty down a level. Personally I'm happy with the balance of power at the moment. The missions are doable, just, it needs co-ordination from both sides. (which is why it sucks being infected on your own).

Thoughts?

As to "official" I should have said that all CS admins that have access to the RCON password have admin capability on L4D so fill your boots.

The maps run fine, they need some polish, but with the following the game has it shouldn't be long before we start seeing some good efforts.

Whilst I'm at it, I've started looking at hlstatx and physcostats again. The former is easier but not as good. I'll pay for it if the communicty is interested, but in truth I was more intrested in Physcostats which we should be able to pull some;

longest tongue, biggest pounce damage etc. So whilst not aplicable for the CS variants may give some interest on the L4D pieces. Thoughts?

It is a fun game and so I think adding things that add to the fun factor are worthwhile, as long as we don't over-do it. We don't want to encourage the stats hunters do we?
 
While I'm here, do I have the power to change maps and stuff, and if so do I have to do it from HLSW or something?
It's just that if there are only a few on we normally do a vote to change to another campaign for some variety. But then that borks the game and you can't use the same method to change it back to allow more players without kicking it.
 
Just found the RCON information. Should I make use of that and set up a couple of configs to run?

You are a CS Game Admin which means you should have access to the CS RCON Password. Just add the L4D server to HLSW, enter RCON PW and then you can do map changes and restarts from HLSW - much easier. It will even list the maps for you.

all you need is the.....

rcon_password xyz
rcon sv_alltalk 1
rcon changelevel a/b/c

create a .cfg with the map names in and then exec xyz.cfg from there.

but it's frustrating there's no measure really due to the autoswitch. I'd like to know that I tongued 12 people last night and puked on 6.

Here are the 10 cfg files to change to a VS map level. Put them in your ...

\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead\left4dead\cfg

folder.

Can we have an L4D section please. It may not have longevity, but knowing valve and the support I would think it would.

Even if it's underneath CS, or we rename CS as Source Games?

We can then have a one stop for the links etc.
