Title: Changes to Boomer
Post by: Whitey on December 31, 2008, 08:26:31 PM
The following only applies to Boomer, Meathook will remain as it is:

In order to try and attract more members to the community and get some activity on CS:S, the TCS mod has been removed from Boomer.

We will also change the way we respond to anyone new to the server going past the signs, rather than slaying/kicking them we should promote teamwork and TCS by setting a good example.

Members of dMw are expected to follow the same TCS rules on Boomer as they do on Meathook.

Ok, get them into it slowly I guess. Less people playing CS:S now I guess we have to go easier to attract them.

I think this move is for the best, however we still won't attract new players unless people actually join Boomer at some point.  I'm always up for CS:S but it doesn't seem like anyone else is very often these days. :(

If anyone is looking for a game of CSS but is put off by the lack of anyone currently on the server, send a few invites out, I will always join if I'm online!

I think this is a good move.  While it may be frustrating for some of us if we get a repeat 'offender' and no admin on the server, this is something we can work with.

@boon.  I'm often in Boomer playing with myelf....er with the Bots, but there is only so many minutes you can play on your own.  Of course, we can send invites while we are in but has been mentioned there is a little less activity than usual on CSS.

Feel free to invite me if I'm online.  I wont be annoyed but if I can't play and I'm at PC, I'll let you know.

We had an impromptu full server a few days ago, I think due to Sith's return or something? so any excuse let's mention it on the forums and get stuck in :D

Its New Years Day! Game Tonight? :norty:

instead of slaying/kicking do we just let them carry on? or explain what they should do?

We should encourage them to play TCS by asking them to stick to the objective (defending the sites or sticking with team/plan). We shouldn't nag them about it though, the idea is that they will see the way we play and get brain washed into playing CS the TCS way. :)

I'll be on Boomer tonight for an hour or two.

I don't think the TCS mod is the problem I think its the surge of Steam that has considerably thinned the ranks in all games.

With all the possible games now available on steam (which lets be honest is the best place to have your games) just means everyone one has a choice of where to go.

COD4 and 5, Insurgency, L4D, the DODS patch and the lich king to name but a few have lots of people interested.

I have held off buying L4D due to the number of games I am already trying to fit in.

Personally I look at my favourite servers and where the numbers are I go, I guess its the same for everyone.

CSS has survived this sort of thing before and I wouldn't be surprised if after a time we all return to the tried, tested and enjoyed formula of TCS.

Happy New Year

Zoooooot!

This should hopefully bring more people in, but I do think that Zootoxin has a point also. No game can be popular forever, but I wouldn't say the CSS community is dead. :g:

It was a good couple of hours of gaming and I only had to kick/ban one numpty. :)

There were a couple of times I was shot from OOB (from non dMw players) but after that I was ready for them.   :boxing:

Well, I'm quite happy with the way things have been going recently on Boomer.
We've had our share of numpties as per usual, but tonight most newcomers soon got the hang or left.

perhaps a forum thread like this one (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=24975) or this one (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=24975) would help to get more forum lurkers to join.

Yep!
I am also feeling the cs groove again with all this other online shooters popping up its good to see old reliable can stand up for itself.

With more pubs you get more noobs/haxors and complainers but I do not think it will be long until we are filling the server with dead men.

Bring it on!
