Title: File locations
Post by: DuVeL on January 02, 2009, 11:35:18 AM
Hi guys,
I have CoD5, World at War installed but it's not showing up where I have my other games installed, I want to back up my profile, any idea where it's placed?
It's not somewhere under my Steamgames.

Also, where do the l4d screenshots go to?

EDIT, just found them finally;
They are under Steam\steamapps\common\call of duty world at war
and;
Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead\left4dead\screenshots

EDIT2;
Which file is the playerfile for CoD5 WaW?

Im on Vista so my files are in:

   C:\Users\mike\AppData\Local\Activision\CoDWaW\players

If you are in XP then I guess they will be in

   c:\documents and settings\Application data

as opposed to

   c:\users\appdata

Cheers Mike.

I also found this site;
http://www.mapmodnews.com/article.php/Cod-ww-waw-backup-profile-rank

On this site it says where they are on XP and Vista but also there's a CoD-backup tool for your data.

Mhhm, lost my awards and such but I still can't seem to find the profiles under CoDWaW where I can replace them with the backups.

Suggestions?

Enable "view hidden files and folders", the files (certainly in Vista) were hidden.

EDIT; still no luck, this gets annoying...

search for a file called active.txt. There will be one for cod4 in the usual place and one in the root of the CoDWaW profiles folder. The search result should then show where the file is located. :)

Weird! Still no luck finding it.
I've made sure I have my hidden files shown (triple checked that).
I can find the backup I made and the ones in CoD4 but nothing. This is getting annoying...
I've allready posted to Activision and even posted on the Steamforums...:sad:

Not sure what I'm going to do, allready asked DA if he managed to find it allready, I hope he replies.
Stupid thing, think it has something to do by buying it through Steam

Will it not be in your steam folder then?

No profiles up there anywhere...
The weird thing is, it seems that program that makes the backup knows where it is, might have to ask on their forums or see how the program exactly works...

Found it! Did 2 things for trying;

First I decided to run that program I posted the link for and it seemed to be under  my C:\Documents and Settings.

1)I had HideFolder installed on my PC, decided it was worth a check to get rid of it.

2)Changed the foldersettings again and also added the option of See content of systemmaps.

Also added trought the PC's registry another option to show all maps.

Found it! :yahoo:

Cheers for the suggestions Mike, one of these options above did the trick.:flirty:
