Title: dMw Funds
Post by: OldBloke on January 03, 2009, 03:15:02 PM
Dead Men Walking are a non-profit making gaming community. We provide our members and guests with a professional forum, powerful professionally hosted gaming servers as well as LAN servers and switches.

All of these cost the community money and we therefore need to find ways to fund them.

We have three ways for members to help meet the community's ongoing costs and contingency plans.

Annual Subscription

We have a voluntary, low cost annual subscription model that allows us to provide our subscribers with the following benefits:

To subscribe simply click the 'User CP' link on the forum menu and, under 'Miscellaneous' on the left hand menu, select 'Paid Subscriptions'. Or simply click this link (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/payments.php). You will require a PayPal account to complete this transaction. Your 'Supporting Member' badge will be automatically added to your profile but this can take up to one hour to appear. You will be automatically reminded when your subscription is about to expire.

LAN Attendance

We charge everyone who attends one of our LANs a fee. This fee is reduced for attendees who are also subscribers.

Donations

On the left hand side of our forum is a 'PayPal - Donate' section where members and guests can make a voluntary donation to our community funds. This is not to be confused with the annual subscription (see above).

Transparency

We will ensure that the community is made aware of all income and expenditure. To this end we will post this information in open forum at regular intervals.

Hey guys - just got back this morning... Typical red-eye flight and got bad laggy thing so this won't be too eloquent...

I got sent this pm ....

Can you please check in to why I didn't get the supporting member award? In october I sent 25 pounds. I even think I saw my initials on some bank statements that Pen posted. ......

Thanks

In real terms he shouldn't get the supporting member tag but my view is that people who 'donated' in the last few months should perhaps be given the opportunity to request it's transferred into being a subscriber if t hey so wish it?

There was a tranche of donations before Christmas as well from several quarters.

What do y'all think?

Welcome back Pen :byebye:

I did wonder why so many people started donating when I posted that we would be introducing a subscription option

If you can transfer it then do so.

The way to transfer it is to manually set them up as a subscriber. That way they will be automatically awarded the tag icon.

As for sigs, yeah it'd need to be a group permission thing and then new subscribers get added to that group when they subscribe.

Oh, and I added supporting member link to the bottom of the dmw donate box (done that a few weeks ago)

OK I've added Vobler and KKND to the subscription module. They've both sent me PM's with payment details over the last couple of months.

There was a member who gave us £60 cash donation at the last LAN - As a courtesy should we add him as a supporting member to show our appreciation?

PEN

PS. Squ0nk has said he'll send me a cheque for his supporting member badge. Once I get that I'll transfer the funds to the account and set him up.

No worries.

I've added him accordingly and sent him a pm...

Quote from: PenfoldHi Ben,

you may notice that you been given the supporting member badge.

This is in recognition of the generous donation you gave me for the Community funds at the last LAN.

As per your request at the LAN I've left it as an anonymous donation but the admins wanted to say thanks and this is a small token to that effect.

You've probably seen the donation added to the server funds here:

http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showpost.php?p=249369&postcount=153

Thanks again and hope to see you at the April LAN :norty:

PEN

PS. If you'd rather 'come out of the closet' and want me to credit it to your name then let me know.

I think it's great that so many people have taken up the subscriptions and it's only just been released. :dmw:

I know a lot of them are the same people who already donate or attend LANs but it's a good start.

It's a great start. I'm not surprised but still nice to see the community show how they feel by putting their hands in their pockets.:D

Sithvid has sent me a pm saying he's sent another £10 to the fund so can he have a badge. I believe he sent £10 just before Christmas too.

can OB/TL check the account to check its in. I guess I'll give the badge now as it shows a distinct lack of trust if I wait for confirmation. It can always be removed if necesssary.

Aye I'm due a reconciliation anyway following the splurge of contributions over the last couple of weeks.  I'll get on it, but in the mean time yarr go grant the badge.
