Title: UI Help
Post by: Jamoe on January 13, 2009, 03:55:53 PM
I managed to find a photek UI after a fair amount of searching

http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/fileinfo.php?id=11779

I'll use that as my base, but I was wondering what other useful mods are out there and maybe replacements for anything in the Photek compilation.

Mage and Pally are going to be my main characters.

Cheers

Jamoe (the pally) / Vlad (the mage)

Pallypower to track buffs.

oRA2 is the new CTRA and very useful for raids
BigWigs - bossmod package
Omen - threat meter
Recount - already included I see

ag_Unitframes is there, so you can show party with those, but personally I would add:

Grid - raid frames
Clique - one click mouseover casting and also removes need for Decursive

Hope this helps.

Massive help, felt completely lost when I started looking at mods.

Is Auctioneer still in favor?

Thanks :)

I really like

I suggest, that once you get back into everything, and figure out what you need and what you want - go search Curse and perhaps try a few out. I've found a *lot* of neat addons that way :)

  • Bagnon - makes your inventory into one big bag. It also tells you which items you have on other alts (if you mouseover an item or a link). Some others uses ArkInventory - I personally don't like that because its either huge or impossible to see (but thats a super subjective opinion! :D)
  • Chatter - alternates the look of the chat. You can also choose to get "class color" in chat, so fx. a mage is blue. It also opens a box for links, so you can copy paste it. I'm not sure if this is a "pure game" or a chatter thing: If someone writes "inv" you just have to click the word and they get an invite.
Prat in the Photek UI is pretty much the Chatter equivalent.  They do similar things although do not both cover 100% of each other's functions.

Instead of Bagnon I use ArkInventory as you mentioned, not sure what you mean by 'huge or impossible to see' as you can adjust the size and shape of any custom bag displayed.  As far as I am aware ArkInventory has a few more customisable options and filters than Bagnon.

It may be because I've been too much of a noob to adjust it - but when i tried Arkinventory it either filled up half my screen - or the bags were so small i coul'nt really see what was in them (when i adjusted them to the size I wanted).

I'm aware that ArkInventory can do much more than Bagnon -which was why i decided to test it, but for me Bagnon just does the job, while looking better imo.
But alright, im aware that I've might jump to conclusions without giving it a fair chance - but it didn't seem to suit me, I thought there was too much "waste of space", even after adjusting the frames and such.

If you could post a picture of how your arkinventory looks i'd appriciate it - mostly to find out if im a noob or just "a bagnon fan" :)

I've actually swapped from bagnon to ArkInventory and once setup it is far superior. I can actually assign areas that hold my armour, other areas that are purely for quest items and others for food, etc. Saves it all getting jumbled up in one big mess :D

Piccie of ArkInventory for you with Bank and Bags showing.  It also tracks guild banks.
As G said, you can filter stuff into different 'e-bags' by category or by specific item so it is very configugrable.

Had trouble getting the thumbnail to link properly, but hopefully the forum is now resizing it correctly as I have failed to properly linkt he imageshack thumbnail for the correct detail!

If you want to see a big piccie of it with lots of detail the direct link to the piccie is:

works great here. Just make the browser full screen before clicking the image. That way it'll show nice and big.
