Well i suppose apparently im quite healer (or so they tell me)
So i figured id write something nice here to help out other pallies that might want to venture to the side when you dont bash stuff / get bashed. (although i do bash that Flash of light key a bit)
Anyways this will updated as i go along as im currently too hungover to write anything that makes sense.
Okay here we go!
I’m going to assume that anyone reading this guide is Level80 and has a rough of idea of what healing is what overheal is and how to play in a general context. Anyone trying to get to level 80 as holy is in for a long haul, don’t do it –no just don’t! Go Ret :P will be much faster and you can just collect gear from questing to slam on when you hit 80.
Right you’ve just hit 80 and have lame gear what do you do..
Well this depends on your main focus if you want a fast entry into raiding with the ability to keep up with better geared players then read on. If heroics are more your thing to get you geared up skip to the next section!
Ok so you want fast action. Here what we’re going to do – Sheath Spec!
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=sxAzg0zhcZZVfrxbhzcrsL0h
Now don’t think I’m mad and stop reading. Sheath spec is an interesting build in that it doesn’t hit the bottom end of any tree, but here’s why it works
http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=53503 from the Ret tree allows you to convert any attack power buffs you receive into more bonus heal.
This when combined with improved Blessing of Might http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=20045 instantly increases your bonus heal by around 240 just by buffing yourself with BoM.
It gets better too! All the attack power buffs we receive during raids that were previously useless now get converted into spell power at a 20% co-efficient.
For instance a Paladin rocking sheath spec with a base 1700+heal will jump to 1940 with blessing of might and will be well over 2k with raid buffs like Blessing of Kings. In boss fights from trinket procs, DK’s and enhance shams it’s entirely possible to hit 3k of +heal which is a huge amount and thanks to the HOT (Heal over time) provided by sheath makes you quite a useful tool.
Sadly this spec is limited as it does not scale you will only ever gain the same amount of bonus no matter how good your gear is. Furthermore healing heroics will be changeling (I’m not saying it can’t be done – but its hard work) as you have no beacon, no holy shock and no way to reduce the cast time of your holy light.
The play style:
I’m assuming you have glyph of holy light http://www.wowhead.com/?item=41106 and http://www.wowhead.com/?item=41106 if not go buy them immediately.
Rule one is to continuously have Seal of light up its on a 2 min timer so just refresh it when it runs off. We do this as it in combination with the chosen glyphs provides another 5% healing. We are then going to use judgement of light to judge targets (starting with the skull marked target that are dying first). You can judge as often as you like as it will refund you mana. However i recommend rejudging every 20-30 secs this will keep Seal of light up on the target and provide yourself and the raid with replenishment, granting them 0.25% of their max mana every second for 15secs so a person with a max mana of 15k will receive 562.5mana back every 15 seconds (This doesnt sound a lot but worked out during a 4min fight someone with 15k of mana would have 7k more mana to use. Obviously the more mana members have the better. The main point of this talent is to prevent you ever from running out of mana as judging instantly refunds 15% of your base mana.
So the targets are judged and now receiving healing from hitting the target. We move onto healing.
Holy light is your friend especially in bunching situations. Your holy lights will be landing at anything to 24k for a crit. This is going to give your tank a 16k HOT and heal all members within glyph range of the tank for 1-3k. This will assist in keeping the tank up through patchy spots and help raid healers out. This technique is hugely beneficial on fights like loatheb.
Whilst this is going on try to keep Sacred Shield http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=53601 up on the tank this will put your flash of light spell at around 75-80% crit perhaps more depending on your gear. Meaning you can crit 80% of the FOL spells you cast > giving 80% of the spells you cast a hot. When using this technique its often worthwhile to just do a spam pass of the raid (1 Flash of Light per target) this takes around 10-15seconds and will provide HoTs (working on a 5k FoL meaning a 3k HOT) for most of them helping the raid healers out.
That’s it for sheath spec. Don’t forget this is a beginner path and is not the be all and end all of healing by a long way and you’ll be looking to change to holy sooner or later.
HOLY SPEC HOLY SPEC LALALALA HOLY SPEC
Okey dokey youve got the gear now are are no longer relying on the big buffs from retri heals - your left with two real options > Holy spec for raids and Holy spec for pvp the two differ slightly but well look at raiding holy spec first.
To begin with heres a recommended spec and glyph selection for the upcoming changes - cuz we get those 5 points back that are normaly WASTED in kings ;)

You cant go far wrong with that with help a lot for several reasons.
The glyph of holy light will continue the wonderful job is does of offering mish mash group healing.
The glyph of seal of light will provide the constant 5% healing increase (which when combined with our new prot talent is a flat 10% heal increase)
The glyph of flash of light (hot removed and replaced with more crit - which is far more useful and will help mana last longer)
The playstyle:
Will update more when im a little less sleepy

It's a very nice build, however i'll consider in switching the 2 points in improved judgements to improved blessing of might. In addition, i'll probably change my glyph of holy light as soon as the patch goes live, for that glyph will not allow holy light to crit, as you can read on the test realm official forum:

Aye its a good point but the glyph of holy light still offers to much to sack it off in my opinion :)
As for the imp BOM idea i like it but i dont think its possible? because on the spec i posted you cant remove the points from judgements without dropping beacon first? unless im being a numpty :/
Edit: I obviously am! you mean drop the judgements in the ret tree :) which is a good idea, only reason i keep it is to kill stuff faster solo'in stuff
