Title: Server Name
Post by: Benny on February 01, 2009, 02:39:37 PM
Instead of jumping through the pain of public votes, here's my thoughts.

Server names;

Meatlocker
Crypt
Graveyard

Personal preference is the former, but opinions please.
I would like to stick to dMw as it fits as if it's made for it.

As for tags, I'd like to stick to dMw, any objections? It's a dMw server, I like our community and would like us to play as such. Am I missing something huge here?

{dMw}Benny etc

Meatlocker works for me :D

and {dMw} is fine so long as it's possible to construct in game.

Meatlocker gets my vote too.

A bit of experimenting has demonstrated that you cannot set your name in L4D using the "name" command. The only way to change your name is to go into Steam Friends and press "view // settings" (or to press "shift - tab" in game and select "settings") then change what your nickname is in Steam friends :ranting2:

Why not just use -=[dMw]=- ?

The reason it wasn't used originally in CoD was that it didn't fit for a lot of people, there shouldn't be any issues like that on L4D.

Sounds good to me....

It has to be anyway if it uses Steam nicks.

That sounds like an up market bar in Woldingham. ;)

BlueBall, can we change the name to MeatLocker please with the usual dmw prefix.

Thanks.

Done. Needs a server restart to implement but there are people playing just now so I will do it later (that will also allow new logo (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=26167) to appear)

Just occurred to me that tagging in L4D is going to be a nightmare due to the fact that it uses the Steam friends ID; anyone who is tagged in CS will prob already have their Steam ID setup as "-=[dMw]=-name" so it is not going to be realistic to ask them to change it if they are not "tagged" in L4D.

This needs some thought methinks :g:

Aye, it's a tester, I've added the caveat to the award PM's to say that the wings can be worn (although I guess we don't have a choice).

That said if someone with wings screws up it's a matter for across the board, not simply L4D so it kinda works.
