Title: Recent Network Problems
Post by: Anonymous on February 04, 2009, 12:15:04 PM
Ongoing monitoring of the recent network issues (lag, slow forums etc) has allowed our hosts to identify the cause of the problems and they will be switching the main internet feed for us either tonight or tomorrow night.

The switch will mean there will be a short outage, probably without us being able to give much, if any, warning so do not be surprised if things die suddenly, normal service will be resumed asap.

Please bear with us as the outage should lead to better connections to the servers.

Has the network now been switched over?  I also have gotten interleaving removed from my line and my pings have halved!!! I have gone from getting 90 - 110 on any of the server to getting 35 - 60!! So hopefully i will be able to shoot things other than Lib!! who I only seem to shoot when he is on my team.

Since the switch mine have doubled. Were around 15ms now currently 30ms at a push on Boomer. Pings to Meatlocker and Coldstore also high around 45ms~50ms.

Getting packet loss only on last hop to deadmen.co.uk

around 3-5%

its known here as: ashe.greenberry.co.uk

It was on Whiteys internet page but it looks like he has changed it I think - either that or BT has done another of their classic faux pas

Me and BB had a problem with a map a week ago aswell.
Had to wait untill the map is over.

Suggestion if you can't connect; Ask an admin if they want to change the map.

NIC2 now forced to 100Mb/FD as opposed to auto to see if that fixes prob. If not we will go for driver update.

Cheers Mats, we'll see if forcing 100FD or the driver update solves it. If not I'll set it back to your domain - I'll let you know if I need to do it. :)

Really having some problem tonight playing on the servers so i have posted a couple of tracerts. The problem for today and yesterday seems as though I am getting packet lost to the last hop and to number 6 which keeps spiking on nic1. Any idea whats up?

From what i can see the route to nic2 is more stable.

By this certain hops on the way to nic1 are flaky in the middle for me at least i know this as i have been using ping plot for a few samples and every 5-10 seconds it spikes to over 300-400ms and comes back down again between 6-8 in and in the same named ones for deadmen.co.uk

Thanks for your help chaps.

Did it at 834pm. It is not the gaming NIC, all games on BA4 go through NIC1 (x.x.x.45 whereas NIC2 is x.x.x.49)

I'll mind my own business then. :) I only asked because a couple of guys were on the nKP server and got discoed at the same time this afternoon. One of those things then.
