No registration, no qualifying. Just turn up.

A series of long distance races lasting approximately 50-55 minutes for the F1600. To be run in FULL MODE.
The schedule will be the same for all races.
30 minutes practice
20 minutes qualifying
Race laps according to track.
Server will open at 19.30GMT

Series to start on the 18th February

18th February: Aviano Full GP. 30 laps
25th February: Prato Full GP. 30 laps
  4th March:  Snetterton. 40 laps
  11th March: Silverstone. 25 laps
  18th March: Monaco. 30 laps
25th March: Lastplace Lake. 35 laps
  1st April: Montreal. 25 laps
8th April: Spa Francorchamps. 20 laps

Points awarded for 1st through to 15th with first place getting 15 points, down to one point for fifteenth place.(it'll pay to finish!)

PENALTIES: 10 seconds for pitlane speeding and 30 seconds for jump starts.
Please note that these penalties will not be evident until the server logs have been parsed. So if you think you got away with a pitlane speeding ticket you won't have! All that leaping up and down with glee at your podium position could all be for nowt!

Good call Ron, thanks for organising this.

I like the idea of a semi formal 'pickup' league. With points too, and we all know what points make..........

I would join a formal league, but committing the time on a regular basis is unrealistic for me. So this idea is great, I look forward to participating as much as possible.

See you all on track  :racing:

It looks as though the 'league' starting next Wednesday is up and running on GPChampionships. So all those stats that some of you love so much will be published. :yahoo:
I've obviously done something right for once.

Thanks to Ron for organising and hosting the race.

Who knows whats going on.   This weird stuff seems to happen at Aviano more than anywhere else.   Really disappointing.

Thanks Ron for arranging this.   I'm sure next week will be better.  Aviano has serious issues imo.

Arrrrrr! :taz: Just when it was starting to look good.

Server/nKP/AvianoFull bug or something ended the race before it even began properly.

But still, thanks Ron for organizing this. Better luck next week. :)

Everyone looks to have had problems, I got to about lap 5, got a quick ghost car blink in front of me and Moose vanished (ahead). Though Gnome behind me could still see both of us.

Others then said race finished though I didn't get that message. About 2 laps later I lost connection.

Server not visible.

Oh dear.. :nope: I was looking forward to this one, and I got off to a decent start. Then the problems started.. "box cars" parked on the side of the road, yellow flags flying everywhere, people loosing connection, and finally Race Over!

They really need to sort these things out.. nKP is still in its infancy, trying to establish a solid userbase and recruiting new drivers. If people have too many negative experiences like tonight they won't bother coming back!

I have decided to scrub the GPChampionships aspect of the Wednesday evening fiasco...er, I mean race. It appears that the system cant recognise ad hoc racers. M. Boissel, did you actually add your name to the league? Because yours is the only name that it recognises!
Frankly, it's not working as I imagined so in future we'll just race (Kunos permitting) on Wednesday. It's enough to drive you into the arms of iRacing! NOT!

What do you mean : add your name to the league ?

I wrote a first post on the forum to introduce myself and participate to the Spa F1600 without problem.

No no no. It's a GPC thing. Yours and now Stuarts names were the only ones to be recognised by the results programme they have. Don't worry about a thing.

Yeah i had a great start but i messed up in the second lap, after that i was battling for position 8 with 2 ppl...it's was really great. (I'm getting excited just talking about it...)

I'm not that fast but think I'm getting there... i just started with PC simracing (6 weeks orso) before that i was a gran turismo junkie :flirty: so i'm still really pumped about netKar PRO... :woot2:

Was really looking forward to the race, as I had been doing low 45s/high 44s consistently during the week, so hoping for a good run mid-field. Illness and a disco at the start of lap 2 put paid to those silly notions! But I'm a sucker for punishment, so I'll be there for Prato. Don't give up Ron, it'll all come good in the end m8!

I've just spent the lonliest hour of my life, well not quite, but damned close. I completed 29 laps of Prato and sat on the track just before the finish line and waited for and hour and five minutes to pass. I then crossed the line and was declared the winner! :yahoo:
My theory goes like this. In the config file is an entry that says 'SESSION TIME' this was set at 30. presumably minutes. :g: I think, if I change that to 60 and see what happens. So, what did I prove? I proved that nKP can handle 30 lap races and that it didn't finish as soon as the hour+five was up! Any further forward? I'm not sure. I think that nKP doesn't accept the number of laps as being the defining factor in Race session and that session time plays it's part.
The tough part is getting people to give it another go.

The disconnect crap? I have a gut feeling that it's similar to LFS in that one bad connection screws it for those around him. I'm afraid that wireless may be a culprit. I don't know.

Good man, did you get your beers in first though :)

Would it be possible to set one of the servers that normally run throughout the week to the specs required for a full race session and leave it going all week?
That way people could join for pickup sessions and do a full length full mode race and see if there are any problems? I'd definitely give it a go.
It would be a real shame if we were forced to give up the Wednesday races, they were getting good.

Hi,

Congrat's about server investigations.

I just would like to explore all the way possible, I don't know if there is a link but in GPC league Jaap has collect all the skin from all driver's and all driver's have installed all skin in their NKPro folder.

Do we have to do the same here ?

So bad for yesterday, I really appreciate this kind of race, specially with the pitstop.

See you on next event.

let me know when the next race is taking place... i will be there :)

Concerning the session time setting, i think it's weird that with first two races nobody seems to have the problem with finishing to early.

Maybe the setting only has effect on "official" tracks because the first two races where at Montreal and Spa.... :g:

Actually the first race was at Aviano (several weeks ago) and we had a similar problem. It then went to last lake place then Montreal and then spa with no problems- you are right though.  It does seem that we have only had problems on official NetKar Pro tracks- This seems pretty blatant to me:  Three unofficial tracks had no problems and the two official tracks had the issue.

I know nothing about setting up servers so I’ll leave my investigation at that. :D

I will definitely carry on racing with you guys on Wednesdays though.  First off you all seem like a good bunch of fair and friendly guys.  Second when it works, the racing experience with NKP is excellent. Thirdly- the missus is out all Wednesday evening so conveniently I am shackle free.  I don’t get a lot of time for serious sim racing nowadays so I'll grasp any good opportunity to sharpen my driving skills in a competitive environment with both hands.

Doorman- I think I speak for us all when I say we appreciate all the time that you are dedicating to this- don’t loose faith with it just yet.

So doing the count 1 + 1 = no worries for the rest of the season. ;)

And yes, it's Great to have some organized action in nKP beside "a-bit-too-serious"* GPC. Please keep it going, at least lets see how it goes in Snetterton.

In the light of some testing done by GPC tonight, the bandwidth setting seemed to make a difference. For Snetterton I've made the server bandwidth requirements 200 somethings as against 300 somethings :D I've also made the Race session not only 40 laps but 70 minutes as well. That would appear to cover all the bases....I hope. If this one goes tits up I have a cutthroat razer by my steering wheel. Listen out for gurgling sounds if you're on Ventrilo!

No need to go that far. You can always fire up iRacing! There are some people waiting for you there...

Hi Ron,

I saw your post and thought it was strange to reduce the bandwidth from 300 to 200, so I had a look at the manual ( if in doubt RTFM! ). The manual suggests that the actual bandwidth setting applied in the network tab when setting the server should be about 80% of the actual bandwidth available. i.e. if the server actually does have a 300KBs uplink speed then in the server tab you'd put about 240KBs, this is apparently so nkpro can start dynamically throttling the data speed before it busts the actual network uplink limits, which is apparently what will cause lag and warping etc.
Bear in mind that whatever the stated network uplink speed is you will never get the full amount due to network protocol overheads.

The manual also states that to host a maximum of 15 drivers you should have at least 262KBs available which would require an actual uplink speed of around 330KBs.
Therefore my conclusion is that, at minimum you'd ideally want a 350KBs network uplink speed which would allow a setting of 280KBs in the server tab for nkpro to use.

So having said that, do you know what the actual server uplink speed really is? Hope this helps?

Oh and BTW, please no self harming on race nights, whatever happens!!!!   :)

P.S. Don't want to patronise anyone, but just for clarity - KBs = Kilo-Bytes per sec, as opposed to Kbs = Kilo-bits per sec which is eight times smaller/slower.

I understand that. The trouble is, I think, (and I'm not alone) is nKPs doubtful net code. So going by the manual is a bit hit 'n' miss! Even the 300 figure was an arbitrary one.

TBH I have asked, but either I didn't understand the answer or was told 'sufficient'. I really can't remember. I'll ask again and ask for the answer in words of one syllable. :)

The nkP server (and all our others) share a 100Mbps pipe.

100 Mbps [Megabit-per-second]
=100000 Kbps [Kilobit-per-second]
=12500 KB/sec [Kilobyte-per-second]

So if nkP recommends 80% of the available bandwidth then that would be ...

=10000 KB/sec [Kilobyte-per-second]

That's a big number. Set it to 750 thingyjobbiewhotsits. That'll be plenty.:)

Hhmmm... just a thought then but, if the servers are all on a shared pipe is there anything else significant that happens on a Wednesday night around 20:30 to 21:00 because that was about the time that we had the problems at each of the tracks where the game crashed?

i.e. is anything else causing a restriction on the available bandwidth at that time?

Are there any network or server stats/logs available for those times?  :g:

Quote from: OldBloke;266467Set it to 750 thingyjobbiewhotsits.

If that's KBs then that should be roughly treble the recommended requirements according to the manual, so a big   :thumbsup2:  to that!

Well slightly scrappy first few laps but was going pretty well 2nd down to 5th then back up to 3rd and going strong with some nice battles.

came up on someone who had been off the track and seemed to be going a bit slow - went into the final chicane and then said car slowed way more than I was expecting I went around the outside in avoidance but there was no room and we touched which gave me 20 mins of damage :crying:  Sorry for hitting you whoever it was.

still dont fully know whats going on with the disco's.  I want to sort out whatever is giving the my high ping readings- i assume they must be wrong because i always have excelent connections with no lag/ warping and no probs in other games. Anyone have any Ideas?

Cheers

Weeee! :yahoo: Server functioning like a dream :)

And some nice racing too. On my part, started from 5th or so, had a good start and was 3rd after 1st lap. 2nd after 2nd. On fire some could say :).

On 6th lap or so I got some, hmmm.. local interference, and placed left hand wheels on grass while braking... Lost two positions there. Then was trying to gather back my concentration around the track for about 5 laps, spunn or went off-road on every one of them.. I guess I was 7th when I got "back on track". Gained some positions back because of others had some moments of their own. And finaly got to 3rd when Oliver went out of fuel on the last lap. That's some serious bad luck.

But nevertheless, server works, racing was goood. And there are many Wednesdays on calendar to come. :) From which I'll miss the next two...:crying:

Right! Where to start? First thing, the server is not at fault and I didn't see any sign of lagging or flickering cars. The disconnects and subsequent inability to see the server in the lobby was down to one man's connection. It was running a ping of 65,553! Not possible I know, but I think it's nKPs netcode that is the root cause of discos. In any other game that person would simply be disconnected leaving the rest in peace.
Pete, that was me you had a coming together with. I'm pretty sure I'm blameless but I'll look at the replay and put my hands up if I was to blame. I also suffered a bit of damage, just enough to put the wheel askew, but I struggled on manfully. :norty:
All in all I'm going to declare that meeting a success.
Well done to Mark, first race without falling off somewhere which he then wins! :D

Fun race mostly. Had good scraps with Franklin and Boissel and was in 3rd with a decent gap each way, with not long to go before the first pitstops.

At this point I plowed into the back of a lapped driver when I didn't realise he was trying to let me pass until too it was late...cue 10 mins fix time and 7 laps down at the flag.

Really sorry about that...wish I hadn't panicked and locked up the brakes, then we would both have survived with just a scare. Just so you know, slowing on the racing line like that is a really bad idea, even with the best of intentions (you probably know that now anyway lol), especially with a huge long straight coming up in two corners time. :)

Brilliant. A full race with no problems. (Other than my driving.)

I qualified 5th or 6th, and got a good start to the race getting up to 3rd early on, but when the guy in front made a tiny mistake and I had to lift Sokke sneaked through.. The second place guy then had a moment and Sokke and I advanced a place.

Sokke held me up for a lap or two sliding around too much, but then started to pull away. I had just put my serious hat on :boxing: when Sokke had a spin or half spin into the final chicane and I was through into 2nd place.

I checked the gap to the leader Mark, blooming heck! 12 seconds already.

After loosing the odd couple of seconds here and there, avoiding spinning car’s, loosing concentration etc, the gap went up to 17 â€" 18 seconds , but after this, the gap remained pretty static until the end of the race as I managed (finally) to put some consistent laps in.

A good race, well done to Mark for the win, and all who finished. :D

First of all, woohoo! A complete quali and race session with, as far as I could see, no lag or stuttering at all :yahoo: Hopefully the extra kilomegabots (http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=26247&page=9) have done the trick :D

Thanks for the kind plaudits :)

As for the race it was an odd race for me, after a bit of pressure at the start the biggest challenge for me was to try and stay consistent, as I didn't have anyone up my 'jacksie' or to chase. But consistency has always been my weak point as you have seen before  So I was really happy just to stay on track for 40 laps putting in reasonably good times. I could see Deetz tailing me from the pitboards and knew that one dodgy spin would put him right up with or in front of me so I was still sweating right up til the end!

Good racing all round but a shame there weren't a few more bodies.

Looking forward to the next race which will be in a fortnight for me, due to a well needed holiday

Unlucky Moose, catch you next time.

It looks like Doorman has fixed the server 'long session issue' now. (Fingers crossed.) But we did have one problem as Doorman stated. This did effect the server. It looked to be caused by a problem with a single client. Huge ping being shown in game to one connection, with the loss of server visibility in the lobby and loss of connection to some other clients. I hope the net code gets sorted soon.

Onwards and upwards. :D

I've watched a couple of incidents and I have to say from as much as you can tell from a replay Craig (the guy you ran into) didn't do a lot wrong. But you've put your hands up anyway. :) A tad more predictive driving would have had you sail round on the inside with hardly a lift of the throttle. You made a very good pass on me but I thought you'd gone in too deep so I reckoned I could get the place back. Wrong! I'd locked up and just kissed your rear wheel. My fault, bad judgment. It was a shame because it was a good scrap for quite a few laps.

Nice to see some new skins tonight. :) On the other hand, I can't deny I was disappointed by the turnout. As a matter of interest, I find I have 100 F1600 skins in my folder, presumably made by people keen enough to be arsed to make a skin. Yet you only ever see no more than a dozen people online. Where are all these people? I despair.

Mark is off skiing, I know.

Anyway, well done Stuart, it looks as though you and Richard had a good race.
Monaco next week? :flirty: I wonder if full mode will be a killer here. :g: Your thoughts?

Let me know which track you come up with, i will try to do some practice sessions before we race :)

I really have to be more consistent i always make a big error sooner or later... :sideways: Last night i was it 3rd place and was doing ok until i went into the sand at the 4th corner, i couldn't get out so i had to be towed (10 min penalty) back to the pits.

i really have respect for you guys that can do 20 laps without any big mistakes :byebye: nKP is so unforgiving, that's also the appeal for me

ps. yeah the turnout was very disappointing, i'll hope more people will show up next week. :ranting2:

I can only speak for myself, but I must admit that I've been putting nKP on hold until the multiplayer issues have been sorted. Just couldn't be arsed to spend a lot of time practicing for an event only to get discoed after like 5 laps.. However, now that the server problems seem to be a thing of the past, I'll be there on Wednesdays whenever I can make it! :) Starting next week.

Sorry for letting you down, NKP really is something - full mode does bring immersion, and the inadequacy of communication means with other drivers / pits makes if feel all lonely in the car as it should be.
My sim-racing time is close to 2hours / week at best these days, so training / practice and setup tweaking is going nowhere.
It feels that I would need to invest more time in this sim to get something of it, and I do not have this time at the moment, so LFS does the job.
If time comes by I'll get back in and claim that last place on the grid that has my name on it :)

Quote from: Doorman;268180I was mainly disappointed in the nKPro community in general. There are hundreds of them but they're all invisible.

One of the main problems with the netKar community is its too fragmented.  It's a real shame ( and i never thought i'd hear myself saying this :p ) that RSC has been closed.   Things were really picking up there in the netKar section, it was a positive atmosphere and lots of new people were there.  It was the main forum for netKar enthusiasts.

Now we are left with the Italians that stick to the DrivingItalia forum and organise their own events over there and the GPC crowd who tend to stick to preparing for/racing in GPC and nothing else.

If RSC were still up and you were promoting the DMR night's over there, i think there would be plenty of interest still.

If we can just get a couple of trouble free races in a row with a decent turnout, and everyone spams a few forums reporting how good the races have been, things could pick up.

What we need more than anything else is Kunos to release the next bloody patch!

Damn didnt realise you guys were racing last week.  I thought it was a week off for some reason- must have been XLR8 talking about being on holiday- I'm pretty fast on silverstone too:doh:

Well I'll definately be racing tomorrow- not been on the sims for a bit but i have done a couple of Autosolos in the meantime so hopefully real life will transfer over.  Not tried Laguna with NKP but I have a thing for that track- always loved it and done well in rFactor etc, so it should be interesting.

Lets just hope my 60k ping doesn't show up with me :crying:  As I say if its causing problems i'll leave no probs.  I'll have a little fiddle with all the cables etc to make sure its not a hardware fault etc.  did anyone get to the bottom of why it only shows 60k+ when im stationary in the pits?

Cheers Pete

Sad to say, this 'league' has been a shambles. :crying: Not completely, there have been a few good moments, but on the whole, a shambles.
It seems to me the netKar Pro is good for organised events such as GPChampionships league but even they have the same problems, to a degree, that we have had. Mostly connection/lag issues. This has sounded the death knell of our 'long' races. The insecurities engendered are too great for my 'dicky tickaire'.

Given that nKPers need 'organising', that is to say a time and place to be on a regular basis, rather than searching for non-existant pick up races, I propose making the Wednesday night event a simpler, quicker format.

As mentioned elsewhere in this forum it'll go like this:

1: Wednesday evening 7.30 proper time the server will be started.

2: There will be a 600 second (10 minute) wait time during which you can practice, change stuff or whatever takes your fancy.

3: There will be no lap times recorded during this time so the grid for the first race will be randomly selected.

4: If you're in the garage you get the 'Go to grid' sign. If you're out on track, 30 seconds before the off you get dumped on the grid automatically.

5: Race lenght? :g: Not too short and not so long as to strain nKP's memory! I'm thinking 10 -12 laps of Lastplace Lake. (open to suggestions)

6: At the end of that race there will be another 10 minute break.

7: The next race will start but with a
      reversed grid!

8: One last thing. To start off with, FULL MODE=0

Points from both races will be added together to give us a winner. :yahoo:

On the subject of points spread I am open to suggestions as well.

I'm now sitting staring at my monitor asking myself why am I bothering? The answer is simple. I really feel this sim is worth the trouble and I'd love to see it used more. It's basic downfall is that you can't jump on a server willy nilly as in LFS so you need an appointment. I/we want to provide that appointment.

WEDNESDAY 7.30!

I'm now in a serious quandary. There are several of us that have signed up for the Race2Play race tonight. That starts at 8pm GMT
As Mark pointed out to me, R2P take a dim view of 'no shows' and quite right to, so how's this for a plan?
Start at 7:30, have two 6 lap races at Prato short with reversed grid and 5 minute wait time.
That'll take 28-30 minutes. Then we all shoot over to Race2Play for their 10 lapper at 8pm ready for their practice session. They have a full grid as well!
That way we'll have a decent nights racing.

The following are booked on R2P:
Stuart Whitehead
Mark Turnbull
Jarrko Sihvola
Katsushika Matsumoto (.pixr)
Ron Attwood

Sorry guys that I missed the race. It seems that I'm racing in so many RBR, rF and nkP series that sometimes it is hard to remember all races/rallies.

And I'm also sorry for my driving in r2p qual&race. I did too many mistakes.

Apologies to .pixr for the contact in race 2.  **** poor show on my part.

Terrible evenings racing overall.  I had to reinstall nKPro and finished getting it sorted with 60 secs to race start.

Everything felt wrong and id had no practice for days, not a good way to have a race.
I won the first one due to the rest of you doing great impressions of lemmings:roflmao:

Still i couldn't get anything to feel right...my braking was all over the place. It felt like id never driven nKPro before :(

That continued over at R2P.  I didn't have time to sort out what was wrong with the way if felt.  Had a crappy qual and a crappy race. Kept going sideways into corners and eventually ran wide in the corner at the end of the back straight, sticking my car in the armoco.

I'm liking the look of R2P, be interesting to see how it pans out when the proper races begin.  It's a bit like iRacing for all sims, but without the stupid stuff that really annoys me in iRacing.  It's even got me racing LFS again:blink:
I don't see anything worth paying for there, but its got decent organised racing so ill stick at it while i can still enter races without having to empty my home for moths........oops, i mean wallet.  (their pricing makes iRacing look like the bargain of the century!)

I wondered why you disconnected while running in third. I watched the replay and I saw why. Oddly enough the animations of your car seemed quite jerky. Everyone else's car tyres displayed the motion blur of the Avon sidewalls. Your were very distinct and didn't appear to be rotating. Your 'off' into the barriers looked almost deliberate. Something definitely amiss. :g:
My experience was a good one overall. Shame it wasn't on nKP Rank, I had a couple of PBs. :) Good dice with Matzos, I was holding him off nicely for a 4th place when my tyres went all squirrelly, overdid T2 and let him by. Great stuff though. Good job Mark :thumbsup2:

Sorry to disagree Ron but I think you're being too kind. I'm sure I came third in race 1 after my Lemming impression? In fact that's definite because the reverse grid in race 2 put me in P2 on the grid behind Katsu.

LFS: LX6s on South City whatever.
Fights at all levels, even with yourself if you happen to get isolated. Bumps, wicked turns, too much power and devil hiding  under the bridge. Suprisingly populated server (at race starts :D).

1 hour race tonight, over 500 gear changes estimated!

Is Wednesday a regular thing for R2P? If so, we could do something else. Being earlier isn't a starter because it's difficult for some to make 7:30! We'll have a race on the same track as R2P and use it as a warm-up event.

EDIT: Looks like the demo users are out of luck this Wednesday.

It costs to run a team on it. Minimum $7.99 pm. Unless someone can show me otherwise. I've searched and search but only came up with the pay way. :sideways:

No, things have gone a bit...astray. I noticed you did the Race2Play event, do you have the full game? They're putting on F2000 at Aviano short tonight so we're having a couple of short, reversed grid races with the same combo as a curtain raiser. Then we'll all go over to R2P

2 x 8 laps with 5 minute wait time. Normal mode. 7.30 BST start.

Yep, I did play in r2p. And no, I don't have full game, just the demo. But I undestand the situation and hopefully r2p and DMR makes some FF1600 races again in future. Or maybe I will buy full game..

I wish you all nice&tight races for tonight :byebye:

Sorry i couldn't make your event tonight.  I wasnt going to race at all as i've had problems with netKar and my wheel.  At the last moment i decided to do another reinstall and seemed to have things working ok,  but i'd missed the start of race1 by then.   I decided to go straight to the R2P server and make sure everything was working ok, as i didnt want my wheel to just lock up in race and take someone out...

Boy, am i happy i did race.  Everything behaved perfectly and i had one of the most exciting races I've ever had.:yahoo:   Race report to follow at the R2P site.

It's nights like that, when netKar is working almost flawlessly, that i love it more than any other sim.  R2P's server seems remarkably good....:g:

Very true. Y'know, for a little while now I've been pondering the possibility that....dare I say it?....nKP Rank may have a part to play in this! After all, the game is continuously sending data to it :g:
That's a question that won't be raised on the GPC forum! :flirty:

I noticed that it really works in my advantage to have the DMR race before the sort of main event (R2P).

But i have really apologize to you Ron.
Both of the accidents at DMR event were totally unnecessary. The second one was even stupider that the first one :sideways: (I checked the replay) So i will try to be more careful in next races :g:

At the Race2Play server I had a really good night. Was very happy with my qualification (4th) Really didn't expect to be so high up, after all I only tried the F2000 once before today

I made one big mistake in the race when I was in 3rd (after about 4 laps). I spun in the two big high speed corners. Somehow I kept it on the tarmac without hitting anybody (that even includes you Ron ) and continued my way in sixth place... actually fifth place but Stuart was right behind me and let him sort of pass (I didn't put up a fight because I was happy to still be alive after that big error).

To make a long story short I finished in 3rd because a couple of guys in front of me spun of so I could pass them quite easily. (I really nice to be consistent once in an while :D).

All in all a great night of racing. :flirty:

From what i saw tonight it was almost perfect. No one i passed was lagging at all.    Still dodgy collision code between me and the Italian chap, but apart from that it was pretty flawless.

Your apology is accepted. Don't worry about it. :D The only time I get really annoyed by being hit is in GPC races. They make so much of being clean and rules etc.....coupled with the fact that they (the races) are somehow more important.
Anyway, well done on your third spot. I know I would have placed higher if only I fuelled for the race. I was on the grid with 20 seconds to go and I noticed 8L  of fuel!

A great nights racing last night :D

It was good to practice on our server first, and the races were close too, just a shortage of bodies again

The R2P race was probably the best online race I've ever been in! Here's a copy of my race report -

I qualified 5th, nearly a second behind P1 (Stuart) so I wasn't planning on winning, I thought I would just try and be consistent, not make mistakes and see how it panned out. Then the green light lit and the racing devil inside me came out! I got a good start and passed one person on the grid and then outbraked two more at T1 keeping it tight against the kerb. I was now P2 behind Stuart but he spun on lap 2 on cold tyres making me P1. I stayed in P1 until lap 20 but it wasn't easy. I was relentlessly pursued by R Massa and E Dauti in turn, great racing guys, very clean. Due to my heavy braking I felt the tyres starting to go off around lap 12, only half way through the race! Then Stuart got back up to P2 and started hunting me down. I was running a lot of wing and was quick in the turns and it was obvious Stuart had a lot less wing as he murdered me on the straights. Because of this there was a lot of close racing back and forth and I had to defend hard. Then Stuart finally passed me into the quick left handers but because of his low wing, and tyres going off, a couple of laps later he went wide in the same bends and I got back to P1 with just two laps to go. Stuart caught me at the end of the first straight on the last lap. I had to be defensive at T1 staying on the inside, but because the tyres were off I outbraked myself and went too deep. Stuart quickly shot up the inside to retake P1. I chased him for the rest of the lap getting close in the braking zones on the tight turns but not close enough. We crossed the line after nearly half an hours racing just 0.5 secs apart!

DMR drivers placed 2nd, 3rd and 5th! Not bad. Grats to Stuart for the win and nicely done Katsu and Ron :D

Ok, it's been a learning curve but I've finally managed to nail together a video compilation of the highlights from the R2P Aviano F2000 event last Wednesday.

You can find it here - http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x8vmyf_r2p-aviano-short-f2000-event-1st-ap_videogames - because youtube wouldn't accept it due to the music track :norty:

Hit the 'HQ' button for best quality and don't forget to turn up the sound (Ron)

Also, note the subliminal advertising for DMR thanks to Rons skin :)

Hope you enjoy it.

Glad you liked it too Stuart, I think you must have been driver of the day to come back from that first spin to win!

I think the sound issue is due to the quality/speed of the network affecting the streaming of the file.

It may or may not be the best track but it's great as an intro for something like this. Maybe I'll try something heavier next time. I did a GTR tribute with a Death Angel soundtrack which worked well :D

It was fun!
From a personal point of view it was one of the most exciting and incident packed races I've raced in.  Leading, back to last by lap 2, passing then getting passed back on more than one occasion, getting the lead back then losing it with 2 laps to go ,then regaining it on the last lap and holding on to the win by 0.5 secs.

How much more can you ask for in a 30min race!

The album is Metallica - Death Magnetic.   The bit of music in the vid is the intro section to The Unforgiven III.    The rest of the album is as different from that bit of music as you can get.

@Ron: By the way I was racing last Thursday of Friday (@prato short) against someone on the DMR server and we both had disconnects during the race. I'm coming to the conclusion that these random discos are the same as for any other online game. The only difference is that we're more paranoid about it in nKP. :dribble: As a side note, nKP Rank may have a role in it. We'll try running it on Wednesday without Rank.

Well, I find it quite different. With nkPRO's 15 cars grids, in my opinion there is never what could be called "full grid". 30 cars would be what I'm looking for - tight racing. And with 15 cars races on long circuits can be boring, with short tracks like Falkenberg it is much nicer, because you can actually see other cars on a track..

Fantastic! It's clear where I was slower, my lines are 'scruffy' but it was only the really bad mistake in the final turn that lost it for me. Terrific driving Katsu. :D

I've been thinking about this server....a lot. Unless we make an effort to be on it at least on Wednesday evening then it'll sit there like so many nKP servers...empty. People look for a server with life on it. Let's make an effort to liven the place up, there are at least 5 of us and that is an incentive for to others to join. I'll be on it from at least 7:30 and shall keep restarting the quali session till there's enought of ust to race. Otherwise I can see no good reason to keep the server running.

You're no longer doing the F1600 regularly, right? I've decided not to buy a full licence at this point. My PC seems to be struggling more with nKP than any other sim, and I'm getting tired of running at super-low resolutions and still get stuttering. I'm not sure, but I think it's also affecting my force feedback.

So: I'll still join you guys for some F1600 fun if you'll run that again in the future, but a full licence will have to wait. :crying:

A good evenings racing! Improved my lap times, and led a race (very scary  ), so I'm happy. Nice to see lots of people on the server, let's hope it continues.

Will there be any racing on the Finnglish server this Wednesday?
And if so what, maybe a practice for next weeks R2P? :)

1: As a general rule, an hour or so before the R2P race on R2P race days.
2: I can't run nKP and rF-GTL and guess which is fave atm. :norty:

Hi,

Is there any forum topic where you guys speak with each other? It's weekend but I cant see anyone else on the current combo :(
Title: Dead Men Racing on Wednesday night
Post by: Seany on December 11, 2016, 08:18:03 PM
hey ya

yeah, you can make a post any where in this section if you want to ask about  Assetto racing etc: http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?279-NetKar-Assetto-corsa

This thread is the one where we announce the current combo, most discussion goes on in there:  http://www.deadmen.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?39864-Assetto-Corsa-Server-Track-And-Car-Combos/page48

Unfortunately with so few racers the server is empty most of the time, but keep an eye out in the evenings, this is when you will most likely see us on.  8pm(GMT) tomorrow there will most definitely be racers on! :)

I cant find anyone on the server :( ... There was only ONE 5 min race? which I missed, and everyone is gone?

Hey Itchy mate, any more info on that, you tried to join on Thursday and were unable?  Server should be up and running no probs as far as I can tell.  Do you have all the DLC?  The current combo is using The Porsche 911 GT1-98, this is part of the "Porsche Pack II" DLC. It is also using the Red Bull Ring track which came in the "Red Pack" DLC.

Filters are the only other thing I can think of that might be preventing the server from showing up.  Once these filters are set correctly and you have the DLC, all you should have to do is type "DMR" into Assetto's lobby search box, and it should hopefully show up.

PS the best day to come on the server to join us for some racing is Monday.  We try to do Wednesday too, but some of us may be busy and not able to come on (this is what happened last Wednesday).
PPS This thread is ancient, from another era when we where racing in NetKarPro.  Sorry for any confusion. :)
PPPS :D  As with triaboj, we would love to have you on racing with us Itchy, the more racers the better in these quiet times!

Hi Seany, how's things? I tried to join on Weds, but no sign of the server. Just tried again now and found it, no problem. Bought all the Porsche DLC on release, who could resist. Can't wait to drive a 917....
Looking forward to racing with you guys again, will be fun.
