As usual, I plan on flying to Stansted. Anyone interested in picking me up on the way, either in Stansted, in London, somewhere in between, or some other location? I will pay for the trouble in cash or LAN pints :) Perhaps also share a rental between a few peeps in some arrangement.
My luggage is a PC in a medium-sized suitcase and a duffel bag. Monitor is arranged.
I should be getting a hire car and driving up from London, near Kings Cross, (Unless someone else is already driving from around there and can give me a lift :) ) and it looks like stansted is more or less en route. Assuming I don't get lost trying to find my way out of central London I reckon we might be able to work something out. I'd probably aim to be leaving 3pm or later unless I wangle some time off in lieu or something

Hi all,
I'll be travelling up in a VW Caravelle 2.5 V6 leather heated seats the works :)
I'll be travelling early Friday morning (leaving Plymouth probably 5am ish). Would hit London around 9am - 10am or Birmingham area around same time.
This means that if anyone wants to be collected on route, I could pick them and PC's up on the way.
It holds six including the driver with a fair amount of room for each. Considering there will be equipment and baggage I would say I could collect two or three people if it suits? i.e. four (including me) and luggage etc.
Please PM me if you like the idea.
I could travel to London and do that route or possibly Birmingham route - first come first served.
All I would want is a contribution to fuel and as a starting point I would suggest £20 if picking up from London? Again PM me.
Looking forward to the weekend! :D
It does mean I could start drinking considerably earlier :norty:
Nice idea but I'm the wrong side of London for you mate. You'd need to go anti-clock rather than clock on the M25 and it'd add an hour to your trip.

If noone wants a lift, I'm thinking of doing the M25 then north route - A1M? Is that the best?
Or like I did last time was M5 >> M42>>M6 and across
Distance wise they are about the same but I think going via the M5 and up and over will probably be a less stressful route and marginally quicker.
The shortest would be going via the M4, around Oxford, M40, A1M, around Peterborough and then to March. But that would take longer.
Six of one, half-a-dozen of the other and 24/4 of those over there in' corner.

Where exactly? West side preferably.

Let me know guys.

Just me afaik - near Angel Tube / Kings Cross, sort of North, but basically central (literally on the border of the CCzone - not good for anyone not needing to venture inwards sadly
What if I offered to pay extra for the trouble plus petrol if someone were willing to drive in to pick me up (near angel tube station, just off city road, just outside the CCzone) and drop me off on the way back, same place? Perhaps a deal can be struck :)
If you can get a train from Kings Cross up to Cambridge, I don't mind giving you a lift from there.
Ticket's about £20 each way.

thanks for the offer - I did the train all the way to March once but my current rig is not as amenable to being carried (and the one I used that last time got a few nasty scratches en route).
If only car hire firms didn't double (or even triple) their prices when you use a london location :eyebrow:
Ben call me when you read this I might have a cunning plan

is it as cunning as a fox who's just been appointed Professor of Cunning at Oxford University?
Shades of Blackadder!
Unfortunately, while I'm willing to pick people up Angel is the wrong side of London for me.

Just a heads up anyone in London it is the Marathon on Sunday!
It's the London Snickers now, try and keep up.
Thanks for the reminder Lib will do better next time.
I'll be driving down from Market Rasen (through Lincoln) Friday morning. PM if I can help anyone :)
I'll be arriving late on Friday as SWMBO is working (despite being told about the weeks ago, *sigh*) so I've got to sort the rug rats out after school...
